Tax Cancellations June 28,2016 297/16
Purpose:
To grant annual tax cancellations for specific types of properties.
Policy Statement:
Kneehill County shall provide tax cancellations to Gas Co-ops that have annual assessment within the
County boundaries.
Policy Guidelines/Procedures:
1. Section 347(1) of the MGA states:
That if council considers it equitable to do so, it may, generally or with respect to a particular
taxable property or business, do one or more of the following:
a) Cancel or reduce tax arrears
b) Cancel or refund all or part of a tax
c) Defer the collection of a tax
2. Prior to annual tax notices being sent out, Administration will bring forth a Request for
Decision for Council to consider cancelling taxes for the qualifying properties.
