HomeMy WebLinkAbout3-11 Legal Costs POLICY Section Policy No. Page neehill Council Policies 3-11 1 of 1 COUNTY Policy Title Date: Motion No. Legal Costs July 21, 2020 314/20 Purpose: To recognize Kneehill County's responsibility to provide adequate legal protection to Councillors in the event of legal action taken against them while in the performance of their duties as a Kneehill County Councillor. Policy Guidelines/Procedures: "Legal costs" are defined as "any legal fees, costs arising from lawsuit rulings, damages, court costs, or other related costs". The County recognizes its responsibility in covering legal costs incurred by any of its Council members during the normal and authorized discharge of their duties, and to provide coverage of a Councillor's legal costs, should any civil legal action be taken against them while in the performance of any duly authorized Kneehill County activity, policy, or other. Kneehill County will not be responsible for any costs associated with illegal activities or grossly negligent actions.
