Policy Development Strategy
Background
Administration is currently conducting a review of County policies The review is generated by a
need to have a framework and clear guidance that enables staff to respond to current challenges
Discussion
Administration has been developing policies on a `proactive and as required" approach and
presenting g them to Council fora royal Our
current practice p c is to submit a draft raft ohc at a
p
policy
Council meeting for review and feedback and then present that policy at a subsequent Council
meeting for approval It is important to ensure that the policy development process and final
result meet the needs of Council and allows time for sufficient consideration and discussion prior
to approval
Our policy development initiatives have primarily focused on operational policies and I
request Council's priorities for future policy development to ensure that our efforts are
consistent with Council direction
Recommendation
That Council provide a list of priority policy initiatives to administration
