Because deaths and injuries and fires occur too frequently when untrained consumers and children light fireworks, several health and safety groups are calling for a ban on consumer fireworks use About half of all fireworks injuries occur among those under age 15 In a typical year in July fireworks cause more fires in North America than all other causes of fire combined Discussion At the recently completed Alberta Fire Chiefs Conference, it was announced that this issue was being announced by the International Fire Marshals and a request for support for a complete ban on all consumer fireworks The AFCA passed a motion in support of this initiative and suggested that municipalities consider this issue when developing bylaws Recommendation.
