HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-05-31 Council MinutesRoad Committee Report May 31 2000 Present* Otto Hoff Glen Wagstaff Marylea Lowen Lonnie McCook 1 E of 19 33 26 W4 Kline water concern A concern was raised about water pondmg in the field and onto the dirt road This is a seasonal dirt road with no through traffic The area of concern is lower than the old ditch and would take brushing and a scraper to drain it into the creek Road committee recommends that a letter be sent to Mr Kline advising him that he may rent the grader to cut a ditch along his field on his property to drain the water if he wishes 2 Schmautz Pit Site Road committee toured the site to see the progress 3 E of 23 -31 25 Keith Leonard gravel request Marj Vetter requested gravel or screenings on some wet spots of this dirt road so Mr Leonard -too could feed his bulls every day Road committee recommends no gravel be placed on this seasonal dirt road at this time 4 N E 15 31 25 W4 Road request Thompson s are wanting to build a residenence and currently this is a dirt road. Road committee recommends this is a seasonal dirt road and if the County is requested to build, it must be put on the Division 4 road program A blade grade is not an option 5 8 28 30 26 W4 Marathon Canada Limited approach request MMMMM 0 A request was received to use existing approach Road committee recommends temporary use of this approach be granted with conditions that .� Danger and truck turning signs be placed as per Henry 6 10 21 30 -25 W4 Marathon Canada Limited approach request A request to put in approach Road committee recommends that a temporary approach be approved and if the well is a producer I the company must reapply for a permanent approach 7 S W 13 30 25 Request for relaxation of site distance ��3ib1r�U V Eldon Toews is putting a house close to his barn site Road committee recommends the site distance be relaxed for this approach and Mr Toews be required to put a danger sign to the north of this approach 8 Range Road 25 0 south of 575 �~ L'no PS A request was brought from Jane Allan that Mr Lloyd Penner does not want the dirt road bladed J Road committee recommends the county keep bladmg this dirt road 2�? 9 Twp Rd 1 a, Rng Rd. 24 -2 Sign request�� s Otto Hoff requested we look at this intersection due to traffic going through T intersection Road committee recommends a new T intersection sign be placed at this site 10 S.E. 21 28 22 W4 Request for approach relaxation Road committee recommends to relax site distance mE Mme' , L- 1 1 S.E 1 32 22 W4 Frank Hugo concerns Road committee once again recommends a letter be sent to Mr Hugo advising him the County will not be narrowing up this road The possibility of having this road paved or chipped in the near future is not a council priority at this time As far as the approaches are TI mT- concerned, when road construction took place Kubinics were farming the land and living on the farms They were involved in the placement and approach policies that took place. A copy of the county approach policy be forwarded to Mr Hugo to show how and what the County is responsible for 12 Approach site distance review Road committee recommends the 800 foot site distance be reduced to 600 feet. �? Wte LOOAKS �uPC -RINft N1',)eto i Ir i TRANSPORTAION AND UTILITIES REPORT I The road crew is working on mile three of the Braconnier project 2 The gravel crew is working down south 3 On May 29 2000 the traxcavator and trailer flipped on the side of an approach. The boys pulled it back up and put it to work The only damage done was a bent muffler 4 The same day the road crew exposed the Mt Vernon water line with a 627 5 The transmission went out of the 14 H road crew grader It was hauled to Calgary and repaired under warranty P 2 was down with warranty trouble also 6 Colin and Gord were up for the tender opening June 1, 2000 for the 582 fob 7 Tuesday June 6, 2000, John Taylor phoned and said a tree had fallen on his truck ` I had Ian go out and take pictures of this and told Mr Taylor to write Council a letter In my travels out in Torrington I talked with Robin and found the trees in question to be on the road allowance I would like a motion from Council to hire someone to take trees out that are not wanted or deemed unsafe when the need arises on County property 8 Bruce and the contractor are spraying between the Linden road and the north 27 The contractor is starting on the west boundary and Bruce on the east He feels they are 25% done 9 We are still waiting on quotes for the cement work at the new transfer site 10 I m working on the tank quotes for the water trucks They range from 24 445 to 15,645 I would like a motion to purchase three tanks up to $15 645 00 plus GST /each If and when we get these tanks we need to sand blast and paint the frame and cab on the old sand truck that will go to the road crew 11 One last important detail I need from Council a budget for the employee golf day 5 12 Mrs Lowen has requested to borrow a County flag for use. , in a July 1 /00 parade Public,Works 9uperintendent C c M O O A � N X O O } Q (D O O O N co • F- Z Z) O J W W Z Y • • 00 0 -, 00 11 00 W 00 ° �` M It N N 00 000 N' M t?'
