ROAD COMMITTEE August 18th, 1995
The road committee of the M D of Kneehill meet on Friday, August
18th, 1995 commencing at 8.50 A.M.
The following were present.
Otto Hoff, Councillor Division #2
Richard M Vickery, Councillor Division #6
Lonnie McCook, Public Works Superintendent
Lisa Paget, Recorded the Minutes
The following roads were inspected and recommendations made:
1 Ruth P�`_ - N W 35- 31 -24 -W4 - SH 1583
Mr Don Pryor rents this piece of property along SH 583 from Mrs
Ruth Parry The M D owns an old stockpile site in the northwest
corner of the quarter but no longer uses the site and it sits as
unused cultivated land
Road Committee recommend the renter of this quarter, Mr Don Seap.aof
Pryor, be allowed to farm the area known as the old stockpile site M "JJYsS
along with the rest of the quarter

2 SH #583
Dirt work on the last three miles of SH 583 has been completed
Road Committee recommend okay to write off
Mr. McCook noted that the Agricultural Service Board still has to
seed grass and plant replacement trees at Mr. Jim Barkman's
property along SH 583
3. Oster Hill - South of 1 in 33 -26 -W4 - Twp Rd 33 -0 Rng Rd 26 -0
An accident occurred at this location on Highway 27 Local
residents have expressed concern with local traffic turning onto
the highway with the poor sight distance due to the hill to the
west of the intersection and the close proximity of the passing
line to the hill and the corner Since the accident, Alberta
Transportation have put up a dangerous intersection ahead sign and
have also made the lines on the highway a double line so passing
is not permitted It has been suggested a turn off lane be
installed for traffic coming from the west and wanting to turn
south onto the gravel road and a slow traffic lane for vehicles
turning west onto the highway
Road Committee recommend a letter be written to Mr Ivan Perich,
Alberta Transportation, expressing the M D 's concerns with this iP,oe -a
intersection and the idea of installing a turn off lane and a slow
traffic lane.
4. Don Reynolds - S E 8- 33 -24 -W4
Mr Reynolds was requested to remove some old bins from this
location. The bins have been removed.

5 Brian Dowell Corner - Twp Rd 34 -0 Rng Rd 24 -3
The trees at this corner are growing into the ditch and making it
difficult for traffic to see at the corner
Road Committee recommend removal of these trees be undertaken as a

6 Ben Schmidt - S W 10- 34 -24 -W4
There was a drainage problem at this location A new pipe has
been installed and a channel dug to allow for proper drainage
Road Committee recommend okay to write off
The new ASB mower for mowing ditches was working along SH 587. It
was noted it seems to be working well
7 Bruce Perry /Huxley Hutterites - West of 33- 34 -22 -W4
Road Committee was to meet with Mr Perry and Mr Stahl to discuss
this road. The road has been sod busted but needs more fill

8 Renaissance Energy - 1- 13- 33 -23 -W4
Renaissance Energy had a temporary access road to their well site
off of the gravel road from the east but are now requesting access
off of SH 585 The sight distance onto SH 585 is very poor
Road Committee recommend access to the well be gained from the
gravel road east of the well site and straight into location
9. Mirrel Haller - S W and S E 13- 33 -23 -W4
A culvert on the quarter line at this location was inspected with
Mr Mirrel Haller Mr. Haller wants the culvert cleaned
Road Committee recommend the culvert be cleaned at this location
for 30 -40 feet
10 Alvin Haller - N E 12- 33 -23 -W4
The trees at Mr Alvin Hallers driveway N.E. 12- 33 -23 -W4 are
creating a hazard when turning onto SH 585 There has already
been an accident at this location The trees are on Mr. Hallers
private property.
Road Committee recommend a letter be sent to Mr. Alvin Haller LE "�
advising him to cut back the trees on his
property and if he
doesn't the M D will do the work and bill him for it
11 Herman Issler - S E 15- 33 -24 -W4
Mr Issler's driveway accesses onto the M D road at a very
dangerous spot There is a bad hill at this location.
Road Committee recommend to cut the hill down and Mr
proceed with the work as time permits

12 Barry Lemay Road - West of 29-32-22-W4
A letter has been brought to Council from an oil company
requesting this road be gravelled from Mr Lemay's driveway going
north This was a dirt road allowance
Road Committee recommend the road be gravelled from Mr
Lemay's driveway going north 2 miles
13 SH 806 and SH 582
Barry -Te-4- m -wo
Another accident has occurred at this location. The RCMP are
requesting rumble strips be located on SH 582 in order to get
traffic to slow down and to notice the intersection ahead. There
are the large stop signs located on both the east and west side of
SH 806 on SH 582 and a junction ahead sign, advanced stop ahead
warning sign and an intersection ahead sign on the west side of
806. An advanced stop ahead warning sign and a junction ahead
sign are on the east side of 806 Mr McCook advised rumble
strips would not be possible on this type of pavement as you can't
cut into the pavement

Road Committee recommend jumbo STOP signs be located on both the P'`P•k fM.. ni
east and west side of SH 806 on SH 582 _morn >Pul
Mr Hoff advised he had a report of a plugged culvert on SH 575
just west of the Bircham Road The site was inspected but no
culvert was found
14 Alan Leinweber - West of 18 & 19- 30 -26 -W4
This is an old dirt road Mr McCook tried to sod bust the road
but the ditches are higher than the road
Road Committee recommend the ditches be brushed and the dirt be ''A'"O'O��
brought up from the sides with a cat and a blade
15 Alan Becker - Muchka Project
Mr. Becker is concerned that his fenceline will be affected by the
road construction
It was noted that Mr Becker's fenceline is back far enough that
it should not be affected
16 Muchka Road Project - s/0 16, 17 & 18 - 29 -24 -W4
The Road Committee drove along the Muchka Project and discussed r;
what would be happening with the road `�M"`G'
17 Midas Resources - 4- 14- 29 -24 -W4
The pumper at this location has been sold to Chauvco Resources.
It was supposed to be removed but it is still there
Road Committee recommend Mr. McCook write a letter to Chauvco
Resources asking them when the pumper will be removed. -5"

The Road Committee travelled through Swalwell and noted the old
hotel has been knocked down and the site has been cleaned up
reasonably well
The road committee returned to Three Hills and adjourned its
meeting
