HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-08-17 Council MinutesA • • • ROAD COMMITTEE REPORT AUGUST 17th, 1994 The Road Committee of Otto Hoff, Richard M Vickery and Vernon Haskell met on Wednesday, August 17th, 1994 and reviewed the following projects 1. Ward Project South of 27- 31 -24 -4 Lawrence Braconnier and Wilf Schmidt Land Fencing completed Project okay to write off 2 Van Doren Stockpile Site - S E 14- 32 -25 -4 Land is farmed by Sanderman - concern expressed by land owner that former stock pile site is a-JIpa not as good as rest of the field Site was written off in 1991 Road committee agree crop on area stripped not as good as rest of field Perhaps owner could put manure on the site to build up fibre in the soil'���d 3 Main Crew on SR 583 Shut down because of rain. Crew is up to Betty Toews corner 4 Base Crew - SR 583 Have been working from Mile 1 to Mile 3 Mile 1 is ready for chipping ,, 5 Torrington Gravel Pit Recommend Arjon finish cleaning up area on See rn � s Hutterian Brethren land even if he will be exceeding quantity of gravel authorized by council for crushing 6 Schlienmeyer Brushing Project - SW 7- 33 -25 -4 Carragana in ditch and on private property Land owner should take out fence and replace it after M D crew removes the carragana 7 Don Reynolds - S E 8- 33 -24 -4 - Grain Bins Grain bins are still located too close to the �Y-- Ica M D road - Councillor Vickery agreed to discuss�,� -r with Mr Reynolds 8. St. Ann Ranch Road - ENE 8- 33- 23 -4 "a "~ 90% of the ditch washing reported by Dan Frere is V-S in the Town of Trochu Recommend a letter be sent to the Town 9. Tolman Hill Repair Job Pit run put on shoulders of the road Not totally -�-o completed but what has been done looks good d 06.' 10 Watts Stockpile Reclamation - N E 36- 30 -22 -4 Site cleaned up - gravel left for base for landowner to put grain bins on f/"ti, ROAD COMMITTEE RE'r'JRT AUGUST 17th, 1994 Four small gravel piles have been removed and Isee grader levelled site. Brian Holsworth Stock Pile Site - S.W 5- 30 -22 -4 SR 836 Recommend Art or Bruce spray roundup on the site as soon as possible, then clean up site and haul remaining gravel away and have contract buggy (Cranston or Aldale) reclaim the site as soon as possible Haul material to Tarragon flat -, area ( Finlay Code Road south) t< tk Need Proper legal for Tarragon Location? Project cannot be written off at this time 12 SR 836 - from Highway 27 to SR 575 Okay to write off this 10 miles of SR 836 Road looks good - nice road 34 feet wide. ® 13 Jodi Ohlhauser - S W 11- 29 -23 -4 Mr Ohlhauser would like to install a dam' less than 100 feet from the east west road allowance Would be agreeable to constructing berm or guardrail to prevent traffic from going into dam Recommend M P C grant Mr Ohlhauser an appropriate relaxation of the setback for his proposed dam on condition he is prepared to construct a berm adjacent to the M.D east west road between six to eight feet in height with a 3.1 slope and also install a guard rail on the berm 14 Appleyard Coulee Project - South half 28- 29 -22 -4 Okay to write off this project Grass must be seeded and the borrow pit area should be ripped ® 15 Rowbottom Approach - SR 575 N E 19- 29 -21 -4 Approach is okay but side slopes need more dirt or sloped off to provincial and M.D. slope C� \3 policy for secondary roads Question should the approach be paved? 16 Gulf Resources SSW 30- 29 -21 -4 Approach apron not yet paved 17. Rowbottom Coulee - Slide - South of 29- 29 -21 -4 Okay to write off - A S B should seed grass both sides of the road 18 Mark Andrews Road - WSW 28- 29 -21 -4 Texas gate across M.D road removed Looks good. Gravel put down by oil company Okay to write off 0 L� i • ROAD COW4.-i -PEE RE1 OFT AUGUST 17th, 1994 (Note. Texas gate installed in Mr Andrews' approach - on his property - looks okay) 19. Pan Canadian Road Approach WNW 31- 28 -21 -4 Pan Canadian was granted approval by Council to construct a type 3 minor farm road at�� this location to access well on 16- 36- 28 -22 -4 Nothing done as yet 20 Pan Canadian Road Approach 8- 26- 28 -22 -4 PanCanadi.an authorized to use existing approach on a temporary basis but oil company should put up signs to warn S p e (Y-N` u traffic of increased activity at this site due to very limited sight distance (Note no recommendation made regarding permanent use of the approach) 21. Nottal Bridge - ISE 22- 27 -21 -4 Beynon Bridge ISW 29- 27 -20 -4 Bridge Branch advises they cannot justify maintaining both these crossings Are asking for council's comments and information as to which crossing should be maintained and perhaps improved and which should be eliminated Both sites inspected Recommend council discuss the bridges with Wheatland and oil companies in the area to determine what they feel should be done with these two bridges 22 Karen Pratt Road Approaches - S E 21- 28 -22 -4 Inspected sites for two road approaches One can be approved by Utility Officer The one which will access proposed house on S E 21- 28 -22 -4 does not have sufficient sight distance due to curve in the road diversion Recommend both approach locations be approved Both approaches will require culverts. 23 Pan Canadian - West 6- 16- 28 -22 -4 Company agreed to upgrade the road to M.D. standards if a successful well is obtained No drilling undertaken at this site as yet 24 Byron Jensen - N E 12- 28 -21 -4 Mr. Jensen was requested to remove the concrete from the ditch near his road approach Concrete still there 25 Midas Resources - Road Construction to access well 4- 14- 29 -24 -4 South of 13 & or 14 in 29 -24 -4 i , c K C- S �I9 "ma I i • • • ROAD COMMITTEE REPORT AUGUST 17th, 1994 Clint Elliott was concerned about texas gates installed by oil company on this road. Not wide enough to allow grader to cross.
