HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-06-19 Council MinutesN �q 3 N a EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT JUNE 19th, 1992 The Executive Committee of Richard Marz and Otto Hoff met on Friday, June 19th, 1992, at the M.D. of Kneehill administration office in Three Hills, commencing at 9 10 A M John C Jeffery, Municipal Administrator, was present Mrs Jean Wilkinson was present and recorded the minutes The following items were reviewed 1 Alberta Transportation - SR 836 Mr Protopappas, Regional Director, Alberta Transportation, advises the plans submitted by Torchinsky Engineering, for SR 836 project have been approved The department will require the usual reports as to weekly progress, quality control, monthly expenditures, etc and these should be submitted to Andy Brown at Hanna An agreement will be forwarded in due course Executive Committee recommend to accept and file as information 2 Rose Country Communications Ltd, Brochures Rose Country Communications Ltd from Edmonton have forwarded information regarding marketing strategies and communication materials The company has prepared brochures for various areas including Swan Hills and County of Parkland They wish to know if the M D of Kneehill would be interested in having a promotional brochure prepared R.p �r rc ci. Executive Committee recommend the possibility of having a Rp�i brochure prepared be discussed at the up- coming KEDA meeting 3 Letter from Peter Trynchy, Minister of Public Safety Services The Honourable Peter Trynchy has assumed the additional portfolio of Alberta Public Safety Services He will be visiting seventeen centres in July to briefly review the programs and services provided and to seek input regarding the value of these services and ways in which they can be enhanced He would like the Reeve, Administrator and Director of Disaster Services to attend a meeting He will be in Drumheller on July 23rd, 1992 at 10 00 A M at Fred and Barneys Restaurant. Executive Comittee recommend Reeve Marz and Alex Cunningham attend this meeting 4 Stat Canada township breakdown of 1991 Census Information Stat Canada will not prepare a township breakdown of the new census figures unless they receive funding of about $50,000 00 to cover the cost Alberta Municipal Affairs approached the Association to see if member municipalities would pay $500.00 each - up to $26,500 00 of the total $50,000 00 cost This amount may change dependent upon final membership of the consortium 1 )6- ��' 00 1f'S J P r-Z_ fA f %\ C �qftl L E C EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT JUNE 19th, 1992 Association wish to know if the M D would need this information and pay $500 00 as its share towards getting this information Executive Committee recommend the M.D. contribute $500 00 to }} this project RAC`®°" 5 County of Stettler District Fair County of Stettler has invited Reeve Marz to represent the M D in their parade which will begin at 10.30 A M July 30th Executive Committee recommend Reeve Marz represent the M.D. in ✓ the Stettler parade 6 General Statistics Fact Sheet - M D of Kneehill Mr Jeffery reviewed a general information fact sheet he prepared which provides information about the M D It includes, among other things, office phone and fax number, Councillors names and phone numbers, Administration Staff, 1991 revenue and expenses, assets, population and other general �'GT information o Executive Committee recommend copies be prepared and given to each councillor 7. Huxley Community Association The Huxley Community Association has forwarded a letter requesting permission from the M D to make some improvements to the ball diamond They wish to put in a non -flush toilet, safety fence, and chain link fenced dugouts as funding becomes available They would also like the first right of refusal to purchase the property if the M d decide to sell same. They did not ask to buy the property. 1e�tP e' Executive Committee recommend the property be transferred to the SPr'-t Huxley Community Association for the sum of $1 00 8 Town of Three Hills Parade - July 18th, 1992 The Town of Three Hills have invited the Reeve and Deputy Reeve to take part in their parade scheduled for July 18th Mr Marz and Mr Hoff indicated they would ride their horses in � the parade 9 Megl.i Reunion Ruth Poettcker of Linden has written asking if the M D would give them some M D pins for their family reunion which will be held this summer at P B I They anticipate there will be around 250 to 300 people attending y Executive Committee recommend 300 pins be given to Mrs sr�� Poettcker for the family reunion 10 Letter from Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation re Alet Grant Program 2 Dq 1�1 N. �001 W EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT JUNE 19th, 1992 The Minister has forwarded information regarding the Alberta Local Employment Transfer (ALET) grant, and encourages Alberta municipalities and residents to consider tourism industry and the development efforts of entrepreneurs in allocating a fair share of the ALET grant program to servicing tourism businesses in all communities Executive Committee recommend to accept and file as ✓ information 11 Cancellation of Taxes Mr Dunay has found some errors in assessment calculations He requests Council consider cancellation of the following taxes. 1 Don Davies Roll 2611000 Cancel $848 43 - A farm unit was not created for Mr Davies and he was not given any exemption for his residence 2 Allan Winther - Roll No 5280000 - N E 15- 34 -24 -4 Cancel $106 09 - wrong priority code was used for his house 3 Allan Winther - Roll No 5276000 - N E 14- 34 -24 -4 Cancel $552 54 - he was not given a $20,000 00 exemption for the second residence. 4 Bertha Edwards - Roll no 3819000 - N E 9- 32 -25 -4 Cancel $546 15 - she was not given a $20,000.00 exemption for second residence 5 Bertha Edwards - Roll No 3327 -0 S W 3- 32 -22 -4 Cancel $406 32 She was not given an exemption for the residence Executive Committee recommend these taxes be cancelled o 12 Request from Shop Mechanics The Shop Foreman and Mechanics have requested council send a letter to the local M.P. regarding the need to make a change to the Income Tax Act Mechanics are not allowed to deduct the cost of tools from their employment income, but other groups such as chainsaw operators, musicians and artists, are allowed to deduct the cost of their tools. \ -e -k-k - s Executive Committee recommend a letter be sent to both Mrs S'r'i Feltham and Mr Malone The Executive Committee meeting then adjourned. s Jean Wilkin sistant Administrator
