Minutes of The Municipal District of Kneehill Parks Committee held at Keivers
Lake Camp Ground at 9.00 A M
Present were. Chairman Reg Campbell Councillor Otto Hoff, Councillor Richard
Maerz, Ag Fieldman Norman Soder, Secretary Herman Martens, Park Attendant Nick
Mamona
Minutes of the April 18/83 meeting were read and approved on a motion of
Richard Maerz Carried
Business Arising from the Minutes
A Four Horseshoe Pits were constructed by George Rempel
B Branding of Picnic tables has not been done to date
C Picnic tables left out over winter for snowmobilers and skiers use did not
fair well, of the four left only one survived without damage
New Business
A Recommendation for council to consider installation of a 2000 Gallon Tank
to be used as a dump station
B Note of Thanks to Richard Maerz for the donation of the old grainery which
has been repainted and repaired to make an excellant machine storage shed
C Most dead trees have been removed from Keivers Park also the pine trees
along the north boundry have been relocated
D Having an extention phone installed in the ticket booth was discussed and
tabled until next year
E Keivers Lake Park should have a better first aid kit as demonstrated by the
incident this summber when a camper cut his foot with an axe
F Park Rates for next year were discussed and set at

Night Camping $5 00
Weekly Camping $25 00
Storage $1 00
Dump Charge $1 00

G Walk -in and Bike -in patrons of the park were discussed Moved by Richard
Maerz that local organized youth groups within the Municipal District of Kneehill that
hike or bike to the Park be given free admittance this to be at the park attendants
discretion Carried

H Moved by Richard Maerz that the flock of small messy si.gns at the park
gate be taken down and replaced with one large sign listing park rules These rules
should also be given to each patron as they enter the park either printed on their
receipt or on a separate page of paper Carried
I Moved by Otto Hoff that two picnic tables be left in Keivers Camp Kitchen,

one table in Swalwell Camp Kitchen and one table in Tolman Camp Kitchen for the
winter Carried
J The truck used at Keivers Lake was greatly appreciated by the attendant and
he requested it be made available for his use next year Richard Maerz moved we
recommend to council that a truck be available for Keivers Lake Park next summer
Carried
K Hours of park operation were discussed and the concensus was to leave the
opening and closing times as they were in 1983
L Norman Soder reported the water level in Keivers has gone down about 4 more
He will try again to get water resources to see about getting more water pumped
or drained in
M Swalwell park roads have been improved and there is still a controversy
over the use of electric motor boats on the Swalwell Dam Our by -law prohibits all
motor powered boats
N Norman Soder expressed the appreciation of the Parks committee for another
year of relatively smooth operation of Keivers Lake park and thanked Nick for his
good work and concientous attitude Nick expressed his appreciation for all the
help he received and requested the position for next year The concensus was that
Nick be offered the position if he returns next spring, provided he notifies us of
his intentions to return early enough in the new year so we will not have to advertise
the position Wages were discussed and with the increased gate charges we will have
to look at wages in spring
