PARKS MEETING
SEPTEMBER 16, 1982
Minutes of the Municipal District of Kneehill Parks Committee held at Keivers Lake
at 9.00 A M
Present were
Chairman Reg Campbell Councillor Richard Maerz
Councillor Otto Hoff Agricultural Fieldman Norman Soder
Secretary Herman Martens Attendant Nick Mamona
Minutes of the May 25, 1982 meeting were read Moved by Richard Maerz the minutes
be accepted as read Carried
Business from Minutes
Item 5 - The grain bin donated by Mr R Maerz has not been moved to the park
A tarpolin was used to cover the Yazoo this summer
Item 3 - from Nick's report re dead trees many dead trees have been removed
by A S B Creed but there are still some others that have to be taken out
Item 5 - from Nick's report re.camper storage It went over real well and was
used some but as more people learn of this service more will use it
New Business
It was suggested that the M D hire tree mover to relocate about 12 dozen Pine
trees along north boundary being crowded by Poplar trees The pines would make
a good break in the centre of the open area to facilitate more camper use
The water wells at the three campgrounds have not given any trouble this year
either with contamination or breakdowns
Correspondence
1 The letter from Michael Steel Unit 2 SUPERMAN 111 thanking us for the use of
Keivers Lake
2 Letter from P B I Grade 10 class apologising for mischief in Park last fall
3 Letter from Mobile Oil Pegasus; Club thanking us for cooperation and help at
their annual camp out
Moved by Reg Campbell that letters of recognition be sent to Prairie and Mobile Oil
Carried
Mr Nick Mamona suggested a letter be sent to the Three Hills Elks Club especially
in appreciation for the work Don Lammle and his children did in cleaning up the
Park after a very busy. weekend Moved by Otto Hoff this be done Carried
Park Toilets
Drainingthe existing toilet location was discussed and Richard Maerz recommended
that Bud Haskell be asked to dig new holes and move the toilets that cannot be
cleaned Norman to contact septic pumping companies in the area to see if
pumping is practical.
Park Tables
The R.0 M P have patrolled the Park on a couple of occasions and suggested that a
sign at the gate might state "R C M P PATROLED"
Park Wood
was discussed and it was agreed that shorter lengths of trees would chop up better
and might not encourage large firesas have been started in the past 10" to 12"
lengths also fit into the burning pits we have created from culverts and brake drums
Park Dumping Station
was suggested as a need for Keivers Lake again this year by a number of patrons
This was discussed and if a tank can be secured at reasonable proce this may be
a Capital Project for 1983 Norman Soder was asked to get a price on 2,000 or
3,000 Gallon Fibre glass tanks for next Parks meeting Prices of $1 00 to dump
if you are in the park and $2 00 if you come only to dump was suggested
Park Signs
The sign at Highway 27 should be redone as it has faded and it was also suggested
that the clutter of small signs at the entrance might be more effective if one

large sign be constructed and well maintained
Moved by Richard Maerz that two tables be left at each Park for winter use
by skiers and ski -doers for this year only to see how much damage is done to them
A financial report to August 31, 1982 was given by Herman Martens It showed
a surplys of about $4,000 00 but Normans' Maintenance Crew costs have not been
charged yet

Park Tables-
Mr Mamona feels he could use another 40 tables at Keivers Park
especially during the busy weekends It was discussed and
Council is asked to decide if they wish to have more tables built
