Business arising out of the minutes 3 Income report 4 Report by Nick Momona Part Attendant 5 Business arising out of Attendants report 6 New Business 1 Wood Supply 2 Vandelism 3 Power 4 Other A meeting of the Parks Committee of the M D 9 00 a m June 24 1980 Those present were. of Kneehill #48 was held in the M D Office A W Bauer Chairman Norman Soder C W Poole Art Thomas R G Campbell Herman Martens, Recording Secretary G A Berdahl Nick Mamona, Park Attendent Kent Knudsen MINUTES The minutes of the April 15 1980 meeting were read and approved on a motion by Reg Campbell The minutes of the May 12, 1980 meeting were read and approved on a motion by C W Poole Carried TOLMAN WELL The well and pump are both operating well after being started for the season PICNIC TABLES Thirteen new table have been built from kits purchased forn Crown Mart FINANCIAL REPORT Kei vers Lake gate receipts to June 23, 1980 are $1,918 00 Expenditures charged to parks to May 31 1980 are $1,725 02 PARK ATTENDENT'S REPORT Mr Soder commended Mr Nick Mamona on the fine job he was doing at Kei vers Lake The committee voiced unanimous consent Mr Mamona discussed the following points with the committee 1 Problems with walk in pri viledge at front gate Committee decision was to close walk in gate and charge persons $1 00 each at the attendents discretion 2 Problems have arisen re check -out time during busy week -ends Committee decision was to make 2 00 p m check -out time 3 Late night visitors caused some disturbances Committtee decision was to post and inforce if necessary the policy of "Registered Guests" only after 10 00 p m 4 Crowding along waterfront The ted solution was to create stalls Norman Soder to draw up a plan and start clearing, numbering, and setting them up as soon as time allows 5 More advertising such as bumper stickers or decals could promote Keivers Park Norman Soder to get costs of this type of advertising 6 Patrons questioned the feasibility of setting up a dumping station for sewer at the park Norman Soder will check with Alberta Environment and the Health Unit for their requirements 7 Senior Citizens requested lower rates Committee decision was that our rates are as low as we can go therefore no change 8 Residents of two or three days requested lids for garbage barrels Norman Soder and the A S B Crew will make some for a trial basis for this year Possibly more for next year c 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Parks Committee Meeting ---- - - - - -- -June-24--1980 ------------- - - - - -- There is not a sign on Hwy #27, east of Torrington directing people to Kei vers Norman Soder to contact Department of Highways for permission to erect signs from both directions Mr Mamona suspected that one season's pass has been forged The committee left the decision of prosecution to Mr Mamona The park attendent requested the construction of light chain barricades at the gate The committee approved the construction. Mr Trevor Friesen to install posts The chain must be flagged, flags from the shop may be used Change booths could be moved out of the brush and into the open so parents can keep an eye on their children better This was supported by the committee Norman is to see that it is done The booths mention above: should also be surrounded with barricades to warn drivers, in the area, of children This was also approved by the committee with the suggestion that large logs would probably do the _lob People have approached the: attendent as to the possible establishment of a concession booth The committee felt that this would be a real asset to the park and endorsed any reasonable undertaking Mr Mamona requested a lawn mower and a weed eater so he could mow and trim some of the grass inside the park This committee would like to suggest to council that a new weed eater be purchased for the A S B to be used at parks and cemetaries The present Yazoo and weed eater to be maintained as standby equipment and for use in parks New Business PARKS WOOD This was discussed at great length and review of the sources of supply listed in the April 15 1980 minutes Moved by Mr Reg Campbell that Norman Soder take what steps he feels necessary to acquire and supply the parks with wood Carried The suggestion that Norman run an add in the Capital requesting farms with scrap wood to dispose of to contact the office for instructions as to where and when VANDALISM Mr Nick Mamona has charged two persons at the park for various offences The commit- tee voiced full support of Mr Mamona's actions Moved by Mr Reg Campbell that we as a committee give Mr Nick Mamona authority to refuse entrance to anyone he feels would not be an asset to the general peace and quiet of the park Carried POWER Power at the park has been completed as per councils plan The light over the front gate stays on all the time Norman to check and see if it is supposed to be on TRAVEL ALBERTA GUIDE The 1980 guide still has Keivers as a free park This will be changed in the 1981 guide Mr C W Poole that the meeting adjourn at 12 00 Noon Carried ------------------------------- Secretary
