COUNCIL MEETING MAY 20th 1980
The Council meeting of May 12th, 1980 which was adjourned until May 20th, 1980 at 9:00 A M
reconvened at 9.00 with the following councillors present

T C Paquette, Public Works Superintendent was hiss for the major portion of the meeting
There was brief discussion concerning the accident which occured on May 16th, 1980,
involving two M D gravel trucks and Mr Campbell then moved to table further
discussion on this matter until Monday May 26th, 1980

There was discussion about purchase of a sand screen and Mr Brown moved
that Mr Paquette be given authority to purchase a sand screen at a price
not to exceed $55 000 00

It was noted that the previous motion to approve�a sand screen plant
authorized purchase of one at a price not to exceed $50,000 00, anc
this is not sufficient
After lengthy discussion of the 1980 Road Program, Mr Bauer moved

Mr Brown moved that the Road South of 26- 31 -24 -4 be graded with a motor grader
and gravelled for the first time

Mr Campbell moved that the 1980 main crew road program be as follows-

Mr Campbell reported that the flowing well at Medings on the North Huxley Road needs
to be recased immediately, as the casing appears to be rotting away
Mr Soder entered the meeting at this time - 3:30 P M
Mr Paquette left the meeting at this time
Mr Soder requested permission to sell the fertilizer spreader and the flat eccck

from Unit T10, for whatever price he can obtain for them These items were
advertised for sale recently and no bids received for same
Mr Campbell moved that Mr Soder be given permission to sell the two
items, for the best possible price he can obtain

There was then discussion about the existing M D policy for grasshopper
controlwhich provides that the M D will subsidize the purchase of any
necessary grasshopper chemicals authorized by the M D up to 50% of the cost

Ferguson moved that the existing policy be confirmed
e to have a supply of grasshopper chemical available
per gallon
There was also discussion regarding the need for employees to have
medicals, and Mr Brown moved that first time employees must have
medicals and these are to be obtained from Dr Uptigrove, but if an
employee leaves the M D employ and returns to work within one year,
no medical will be required

The road committee report of May 13th was reviewed and Mr Bauer moved
to accept and file as information

Mr Jeffery reviewed a back skping agreement arranged with the Estate
of Oiva Anderson for SW 28- 32 -23 -4 and Mr Ferguson moved to approve the
agreement as arranged

There was discussion the 1980 recreation grants the Alberta
75th Birthday grants and the equalized assessment figures, and Mr
Brown moved to table these discussions until the next meeting of

Mr Bauer rcpc... l that there may be a problem developing between Mr Walter
Kruger and Mr F Moiendyk regarding possible water diversion and after
discussion Mr Ferguson moved to accept the report as inf -.... :_.

There was discussion regarding the impending retirement of Mr Paquette
and Mr Jeffery was requested to ascertain from him an exact date for his
retirement and report back to council
Mr Jeffery was also requested to check about maintenance problems which may
be arising with the D7 cat on the small crew and report back to council
Mr Bauer moved that this meeting do now adjourn
