A meeting of the Parks Committee of the M D of Kneehill #48 was held in the M D office
April 15,1980 at 1.15 p m
Those present were-
10 A W Bauer - Chairman Norman Soder
R G Campbell Herman Martens - Secretary to the Board
C W Poole
The minutes of the December 18 1979 meeting were read Mr C W Poole moved acceptance
of the minutes Carried
KEIVERS LAKE POWER
Alberta Power has been approached by the Council of the M D of Kneehill #48 and an
initial payment has been issued to them as of April 14,1980 for power installation
to the Park
WATER & DUMPING STATION
With the installation of power to Keivers Lake Park a water pump and sewer dump station
are possible Mr Norman Soderwill get costs and find out if these facilities are
feasible
MOTOR BIKE SIGNS
Norman Soder has not as yet installed the signs but will be doing this shortly
ATTENDANT
Mr C W Poole moved that an advertisment be placed in the April 23,and 30th issues of the
Capital for an attendant for Keivers Lake Park The successful applicant will be offered
$500 00 per month plus one -half of the gate receipts; they must supply their own
accomodation. Deadline for applications to be May 5,1980 Carried
RATES
The 1980 rates for Keivers Lake Park are:
Day vehicle pass $1 00
Day boat pass $1 00
Season Vehcile pass $10 00
Season boat pass $10 00
Camping fees. Nightly $3 00
Weekly $15 00
Montly $50 00
Mr R G Campbell moved acceptance of these rates Carried
FIREWOOD FOR PARKS
This problem was discussed at length some alternatives for supply were-
1 BRUSHING by M D crew during the winter; very little wood was cut again this year
2 FARMER SUPPLY SCRAP BUILDINGS- This source of fire wood is messy and has presented
a problem of nails and some unburnable material at the parks
3 GRANTS FOR SHELTER BELT REJUVINATION PROGRAM. may have a side benefit of creating
wood for parks Norman Soder will look into this
4 STEP PROGRAM. was considered to employ some students for the summer, cutting and clearing
road right -of -ways
5 CULL & SCRAP LUMBER FROM MILLS The saw mills in the Sundre area have lumber of this
type available but it must be hauld Mr R G Campbell volunteered to get a truck
load to see how much and what kind of lumber is available
It was decided to advertize that farms with scrap lumber should contact the M D office
for information as to were the wood should be put
KEIVERS LAKE
Some of the work that Tony Greke will be doing when he returns is.
- fix bent front gates
- paint picnic tables
- poison gophers
TOLMAN BRIDGE PARK
R G Campbell and Norman Soder are pumping out the well and will be sending in a water
sample tommorrow(Apri1 16,1980) The pine trees planted last year died poplars should be
planted this year to see if they can survive WOOD BINS FOR PARKS
Different ideas were discussed and it was decided to go with poles or posts set in the
ground forming a rectangle about 16' x 20 open on the end
