I KNEEHILL SANITARY LANDFILL COMMITTEE
MEETING - May 18, 1978
A meeting of the Kneehill Sanitary Lana=iil uommiLLee
was held at the Municipal Office, Three Hills on Thursday May
18, 1978 commencing at 7 30 p m
Those present were.

The minutes of the meeting of February 2/78 were re-
viewed briefly Mr Walter Permann moved that they be
accepted Carried
Mr R W Brown gave a report of the Seminar of April
27/78 in Edmonton which he had attended He stated that the
meeting considered a collection and roll -off container system rather
than the dump box system
He explained the dump -box system for those who had not
been present at other meetings He felt that the Neufeldt
Collection system could be handled for approximately $1 95 per
household per month
He further felt that he had concerns on the dump box
system re freezing and sanitizing
He noted that an Engineer from Alberta Environment
is comparing the Central Dispose -All system with the Neufeldt
System and is to bring back figures on both types on June 16/78
Mr Lau felt that there would be no problem of freezing
with the dump box and explained regarding the sanitizing of the
boxes A water tight compactor trailer is now on the market
Some of the members expressed concern re overload weights on
the compactor trailer
Mr Davidson moved that this report be accepted and
filed Carried
Mr Jeffery Secretary, read a letter from Able
Irrigation Ltd advising of their expertise in Waste Management
Mr Walter Permann moved that this be filed Carried
Mr Jeffery Secretary , read copies of letters
written to Hon Dave Russell Minister of Environment re-
questing a Grant of $850,000 00 , This is to be used
toward a new system Mr Lau reported that $100 000 had
been confirmed by Alberta Environment Mr Jackson moved that
this report be accepted and filed Carried
There was brief discussion regarding tendering for a
collection system as the present contract expires Sept 1/78
Mr Permann moved that this be tabled until a decision on the
disposal system is reached Carried
The Secretary reported that he had hired the Three
Hills Cubs to clean up the pit site road allowances for a
sum of $50 00, and that the Minor Hockey Association of
Three Hills had also asked if they could clean up some of
the areas for a price After further discussion, Mr Jackson
moved that the Minor Hockey Association of Three Hills be
hired to clean up around the landfill site and the road
allowances around section 25- 31 -24 -4 and in the pit site area,
and that they be paid $100 00 when the job is completed
Carried.

"Clean -Up Week " was then discussed Mr Walter
Permann moved that "Clean -Up Week" be held June 5th to 101
and that this be advertised in the Three Hills Capital ,
that the pit site be open all week at no charge Carried
The Secretary then gave a brief report regarding the avai-
of the Crawler and the site conditions He reported thal
M D of Kneehill cannot possibly-get the Crawler there three
times a week and this is creating a bad situation because
of blowing papers,etc
It was agreed that the Crawler be brought in as often as
possible and the Traxcavator be used when the Crawler is
not available
Mr Harvey Jackson moved that this meeting do now adjourn
