A Fire C=uttee meeting was held at the office of the Municipal District of
Kneehill #48, in Three Hills, on Tuesday, January 20th, 1976, . ,, .:.,. -'mg at
730PM.
Mr. R_ . W. BroGm acted as Chainon of the meeting, and Mr G King ��.,.....::.1
this report.
Mr. Brown opened the meeting and introduced Mr. Fred Wood of the Fire
C anissioner's office in II : ,. A..:.,,. „,tative had been invited
to bring information and answer questions which may vane up during the
meeting.
Financial statements were given for the various Rural Fire Protection
Areaj, with the following as a brief samar .

details of the above expenditures were explained and those in charge of the
:c„xs areas checked over the copies of the invoices for payments that had been

Their equi.gnent is generally good They have 18 volunteers, of
wh.- -h 12 are rural and they are happy with their arrangement.
Linden Report
They had a t.zt"l of 22 fires in 1975 and a few of them were
fairly serious Their radios and base arrangements now are
very good Also their equipment is considered good Mr Regehr
spoke about the success they had in putting out one big fire
in a dairy barn They now have 36 volunteers and this is considered
suitable
n n-ee Hills Report-
Only a few fires during 1975, and none of a major type. They need
one main noozle. They have 20 volunteers, which includes three
rural.
Mr. Bra-m spoke briefly regarding the fire which destroyed the
house at the farm of Norman Klassen last year and the fact that
the insurance company has placed clahm against everyone they could
think of. Zie M.D has referred it to the insurer for their liability,
but this does cost money.
Mr. 11-)od on the duties and responsibilities of firemen
and stated fray the information givc,n him, he could see no way
that an- claim could be successful.

We appear to have a good org�uzization now, but always look for improvement
Mr Wood further stated that Mr Don Graham of the Fire C omussioner's
office could give guidelines upon request.
NIr Ron Howe of Three Hills asked for a map with the boundaries of the area
clearly shown , and also stated that it is very difficult to locate natural
gas lines in the farms yards, and this creates a hazard 3

Maps will be supplied to each of the areas.
It was suggested that a notice be put in the local paper at various
intervals, outlining the procedure to be folbwed if making a
fire call
Mr. Wood stated they now offer 13 courses at Vermillon College
and these can handle about 21 persons each.
Mere is a need for expansion of the facilities
Mr. Ron Howe of Three Hills stated some consideration should be
given to a new fire truck at Three Hills. The truck .itself has
quite high mileage nova, and was second hand when turned over to the
rural area. This is a 1962 model
He stated the equipment is quite ample.
Mr. Howe suggested that the allowance for wages for volunteer
firemen should be reviewed and perhaps increased, in keeping with
the times
Mr Alex Cunningham was asked to look into the possibility of
getting tvn portable radios for each area, as these would be of
real. help
