HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-01-14 Council MinutesCEJ C] COUNCIL MEETING January 14th,1975 (Continued from January 13th, 1975 -- P 10 ) PRESENT All Councillors were present at 9 00 A M , Januaryl4th, 1975 for a continuation of the meeting from the previous day Mr Ted Paquette, Mr Joe Dobler , Mr Robert Cranston, and Mr Norman Soder also met with Council Mr G.King, Secretary -Treasurer recorded the minutes SHOP COMM REPORT The report of the Shop Committee meeting of Dscember 2nd, 1974 DEC 112 was reviewed and discussed in detail as the main purpose of V this meeting was to consider machinery needs for this year and Item 1 Agricultural Service Board After considerable MACHINERY d?scussion, Council favoured buying a larger trailer with REQUIREMENTS the goose neck to be put on the present 1 Ton Truck This would save the M D from buying another truck for that purpose. Estimated price would be about $5000.00 Council also agreed that the board proceed with getting dual wheels put on the IHC tractor with the estimated cost "f $500 00 Consideration may be given to an electric winch for the truck which hauls the trailer. 2 Gravel Crew The school bus is on order through the School Division Estimated price is about $1500 00 The Gravel Crew now has 7 gravel trucks with boxes and hoists and one new one without any box or hoist at present Mr Poole moved that Council advertise the two dodge gravel trucks fol. sale being Units T22 without box and hoist and with T21 to be advertised either with or without the box and hoist depending on the buyer's preference These bids to be in by February 6th and notices to be put in the Three Hills Capital,Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal and Red Deer AdvD sor Carried A vehicle for the man to loop after road signs was discussed. Mr Paquette suggested that the same person look after signs and help with road surfacing during the summer and truck T23 could be available for this. Mr Poole moved that Council call for bids for the following trucks TRUCK BIDS 1 3/4 Ton Truck with 4 speed transmission and small V8 motor,standard equipment 2 4 to 5 Ton Truck to replace the one presently used by Oris Rodger This to be a heavy truck with single axle Carried It was agreed that notice regarding the truck bids be given to all local dealers including those in Drumheller and also to Shaw G.M.C., Southridge plus advertisements in the Red Deer Advisor, the Calgary Herald and the Three Hills Capital L "h, meeting adjourned for dinner from 12 00 Noon to 1 00 P M DINNER O 0 v COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 14th, 1975 P 11 MACH & Item 3(d) of Shop Committee Meeting - Purchase of the Impact EQUIP wrenches was approved, with the one air type to be 3/411 REQUIREMENTS Item 3(g) and (h) for floors in the shops were approved, but an increase to $1600 00 so that two bays at Carbon could be done and all of the Acme shop This is in addition to the $500 00 for the one bay at Wimborne Item 3(b) for a tire bead breaker at approximately $900 00 was approved Item 3(c) was approved , but with a suggestion that inquiry be made at Linden regarding a special hot water heater which they make Item 3(e) for additional plug ins at $1000 00 was approved Item 3(f) for the roll up door for the Wimborne shop at $500 00 was approved Mr Stan Taylor of Rocky Mountain House met with Council PURCHASE in regard to fence posts His price for 64 posts size varying POSTS 344, 444 and 544 was $1 10 each,delivered here He stated S TAYLOR these are pine sharpened, peeled and pressure penta treated Mr Poole moved that Council authorize the purchase of 1 load of approximately 1900 posts from Mr Taylor as quoted Carried Mr Taylor thanked Council and left the meeting Items for the Main Crewvere then discussed and reference ITEMS FOR again made to the Shop Committee Report MAIN CREW Item 4(a) Wagner - It was noted that approximately $20,000 00 had been spent on this machine in 1974 Mr Paquette stated that he believed that it is quite good shape and he recommended keeping it Mr Bauer moved that the Wagner be kept and that Council cancel any idea of purchasing a machine such as a Skidder Carried It was agreed that Council call for bids for a heavy MACHINERY 4 wheel drive steel wheel packer, for use on the roads for BIDS compaction The purchase of a track tractor was discussed with the possible idea of putting the C4 unit (1959) at work in regard to compaction at a sanitary land fill It was agreed that bids be called for a track tractor similar in size to the D6 or D7 with CCU and hydraulic tilt blade with the understanding that only one would be purchased, with the size to be determined after the bids are opened Mr A H Church left the meeting at this time with the time being approximately 2 30 P.M. The condition of present motor graders was discussed at CONDITION MOTOR some length Mr Bauer moved that companies which sell GRADERS motor graders of 150 horse power range be advised that this Municipal District may be interested in purchasing ,, one new motor grader this year Carried 12 H D C*1 COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 14th,1975 P 12 The summary of the estimated capital costs were then given as follows A S Board Equipment Used School Bus 3/4 Ton Truck 4-5 Ton Truck Tire Bead Breaker Hot Water Thank(s) Impact Wrenches Plug Ins Wimborne Shop Door Wimborne Cement Floor 1 Bay Acme & Carbon Cement Floors Steel Wheeled Packer Track Tractor Trade one scraper Trade or Sell Difference DW 20 2 Dodge Trucks V Liner $10000.00 $25000 00 3000 00 $38000-00 5000 00 1500 00 5000.00 $13000 00 900 00 500.00 1000 00 1000 00 500.00 500 00 1600 00 80000 00 $5000 00 $2500.00 $198900 00 38000.00 -------------- $160000 00 It was noted that there will be many comparatively small items that will be required and will increase the total cost. Two of these items are the salt shed at approximately $9000 00 and the changes in the main shop It was agreed that Mr Ted Paquette and Mr Joe Dobler have authority to draw up the specifications of the trucks and machinery which Council has authorized through these minutes The following suggestions were noted 1 That the miscellaneous books for Councillors at our office need to be updated with names, etc 2 That our record regarding machine repair costs, etc should include a record of the machine hours wherever possible Mr Poole moved that this meeting adjourn. parr eco ---- �- -----------------------= --- ---- --- Reeve Secretary -Treasurer The next regular meeting - Monday, January 27th, 1975 900AM.
