ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
Vir G King advised Council that notices had been mailed to
all Council Ie hers in regard to the organizational meeting
of Council to be held at our office on Plonday, October 28th,
1974, commence g at 9 00 A 1,11 He asked for some guidance
in regard to t e agenda for that meeting Nx Poole moved
that Council approve of the date of the organizational
meeting and that the agenda be similar to other years,
including the ippointment of committees, etc.

PIPELINE
The request of Hudson Bay Oil and Gas Company for permission CROSSING
to cross road allowances was considered The locations are
on the east and the west sides of Sections 36--32-25-4 and
near the center of that section Mr. Bauer moved :;hat
this be approed subject to our regulations and with the
crossings to le bored.

Alberta Power be given approval to put certa.n power poles
along anunused road allowance along portion of the East-

Discussion took place withregard to the Fall Convention RATES ETC
to be held in dmonton, November 18th to 22nd, inclusive.
It ,,as also no ed that there is a special program the
first Ionday afternoon, so this extends the length of the
convention slightly Mr Ferguson moved that each
representative from this 11li D. be allowed X275 00 to
cover expenses for hotel, meals, travel, etc., and that
the Council members be also paid the regular per diem,
for the days ijivolved.

Mr Paquette and Mr Schmelke advised that they
had carried out further testing for gravel at
the Ginther location and had decided that there
was not enough gravel there to warrant moving in
a crusher
Mr. Paquette stated that he had tested for gravel
on the land of Sophia Baprg in Part of SW 24-30-26-4
and had found a good supply of gravel A lease
with her is to be arranged
Mr. Paquette also advised that Harvey Thiessen stated
that the M D ean get approximately 5,000 cubic yards
from the South East of 30-30-25-4 (Baerg DairyFarm)
if a further quantity of about 5000 cubic yards is
also crushed fr them when the machine is there
Each party wou d pay his own share of the crushing
Council also discussed the need for crushing a greater
quantity than reviously granted to Hopkins Construction
by contract at the Torrington M D pit

Mr. Poole reported that our crew has filled a big PAGET CULVERT
hole at the outlet end of the Paget culvert south of
SW 6-30-23-4 Mr Poole moved that Mr Paquette
arrange to have the rocks, etc , covered with cement.

Some discussi n took place regarding the number of
miles of road being covered by various motor graders
and what should be expected in a normal day Mr
Paquette Sugg sted that out and back on approximately
15 miles of r ad would take the full day based on the
9 hours at pr sent in effect. It was suggested that
there should le better records of the roads done by
the various m chines at certain times, and that the
operators be sked not to leave gravel ridges along
the sides of ihe road at this time of year
Mr R G Campbell reported that the road crew had
caused a loss to Norman Koch of approximately 1
acre of barleir at 30 bushels an acre, when grading
the road nord east of Trochu, this summer.
Tentative arrangements for this had been made in
advance. Mr Bauer moved that Mr Norman Koch be
paid the sum f $75.00 for crop loss

Mr G G King gave a brief resume of the service of
Mr S C Schmelke as Councillor. He served in the
former M.D of Stauffer from March of 1941 until
the large unit was formed at the start of 1944 RETIR
He returned to Council in May of 1945 and served
continually fr m that time until now. From 1945
until the pres nt he had been elected by acclamation
every term exc pt 1950 That record speaks highly
of his fair tr atment of all concerned.
Mr Brown moved that a motion be placed on record
commending Mr Schmelke for his wonderful service
as a Councillor and that he be extended best wishes
for a happy retirement

Mr Schmelke spoke briefly In reply and stated that
he had enjoyed his work with fellow Councillors and z
with the office staff at all times
It was agreed hat a Christmas Committee arrange CHRISTMAS
for a Christma party similar to last year and that COMMITTEE
they have full charge to go ahead with arrangements.
