DRUMHELLER 14r Schmelke m ved that Pjir Ferguson and I'r. Church be AMBUL. SERV ---CE authorized to attend a meeting to be called by the Drumheller Hospital in regard to ambulance service. Carried Planning matters were considered and dealt with as follows (a) I•'x. Bauer moved that the report regarding the new subdivisi n approved in Ruarkvi.11e be accepted. Carried (b) R'ir Fergu on moved that Council approve of the reserve p yment by Don Pryor for subdivision just north of hree Hills in the NE 1-32-24-4 and adjacent hereto. Carried (c) Imo. Poole moved that Council support the application for subdivision of the S?d 31-28-22-4 into the north and south halves Carried (d) t<Ir Bauer moved that Council support the application of Mr 113 esky to subdivide the 40 acre strip along the north side of the 1\iE 20-31-25-4. Carried Council was advised that Pir. Art Heinri ch had asked that Alberta Power be given approval to put certa.n power poles along anunused road allowance along portion of the East- half asthalf of 12-29-22-4 Mr Poole moved that -this be refused as the policy of Council, unless A1brta Power agr^es to move the poles at its expense, if and when ne ves^ary in the future, but that Mr A H Church hati authol'i-�y to investigate this and to report to Council on October 28th. DEUTZ POWER PLANT Carried Dobler'reconmended that air seats be bought GRAVEL TRUCKS or the Ford gravel trucks The price is approximately AIR SEATS X205 00 each. 7r Church moved that Mr Dobler have uthority to or er the said air seats Carried qr Dobler advised that 3000 cubic yards of gravel ave been placed on roads in Division 1 this year and that the cr w is now working in that area The ighest divisioa has 12,000 cubic yards Ir Joe Dobler hen left the meeting ,jr Earl �Iohlge uth met with Council in regard to a roposed 4 acre subdivision in the South ?nest of 27 0-24-4 Mr. P ole moved that Council relax its egulations so as to permit the 4 acre subdivision ,o encompass tha farmstead site in the South l'lest f 27-30-24-4 aid that Council recommend approval f the subdivis on application to C R P C Carried 'r. Earl iiohlgemuth thanked Council and then left he meeting. -Tr Vic Gustaf on met with Council in regard tc the ayment to him or a borrow p,_t in Part S11 24-32-24-4 le stated that much larger area had been taken than argained for a the rate of :x150 00 as the clay from here had been sed for two miles of road IIe also tated that the crew did not strip the area and replace he black dirt n a good manner He also stated that ® he road crew h d torn up approximately 150 feet of hedge t the Brandly arm, for which he is responsible. Mr ustafson stated that he would be willing to accept X500 00 as full compensation for the borrow pit and '100.00 in regard to the trees Mr Gustafson left he meeting bri fly and Council discussed the matter rivately. It ,,as also no ed that there is a special program the first Ionday afternoon, so this extends the length of the convention slightly Mr Ferguson moved that each representative from this 11li D. be allowed X275 00 to cover expenses for hotel, meals, travel, etc., and that the Council members be also paid the regular per diem, for the days ijivolved. Mr Poole movei that the Department of Highways? offices at Cal ary and Red Deer be requested to arrange for th painting of lines on the following road locations 1 From Numbek 21 into Carbon on the access road 2 From Acme forth to the correction line 3. From Allinkham to Wimborne GRANTVILLE SURFACING THANKS Carried I, WORK APPLICATION Carried Carried DEPT HIGHWAYS PAINTING LINES Mr. Poole reported that our crew has filled a big PAGET CULVERT hole at the outlet end of the Paget culvert south of SW 6-30-23-4 Mr Poole moved that Mr Paquette arrange to have the rocks, etc , covered with cement. Carried Some discussi n took place regarding the number of miles of road being covered by various motor graders and what should be expected in a normal day Mr Paquette Sugg sted that out and back on approximately 15 miles of r ad would take the full day based on the 9 hours at pr sent in effect. It was suggested that there should le better records of the roads done by the various m chines at certain times, and that the operators be sked not to leave gravel ridges along the sides of ihe road at this time of year Mr R G Campbell reported that the road crew had caused a loss to Norman Koch of approximately 1 acre of barleir at 30 bushels an acre, when grading the road nord east of Trochu, this summer. Tentative arrangements for this had been made in advance. Mr Bauer moved that Mr Norman Koch be paid the sum f $75.00 for crop loss Mr Bauer mov d that Ted Paquette check further regarding the need of a culvert or culverts at the Equity Wept road Mr R G Campell brought the following matters to Council?s kttention Carried MOTOR GRADERS DAYS WORK RECORDS NORMAN KOCH CROP DAMAGE EQUITY WEST ROAD CULVERT Carried 1 Agreement with Tim Smyth for a fence was signed TIM SMYTH at $150 0 , but perhaps Ted had suggested a higher FENCE A/G offer to John Smyth Mr Campbell will check further. 2 Washout in the John Schlauch field just west of Trochu WASHOUT 14 J.SCHLAUCH FORM T7 149-P SPECIAL r� 1; yr COUNCIL MEETING - OCTOBER 22nd, 1974 P 14 is hazardous to livestock Ted Paquette will check regarding this 3. The Trochu East Road has been paved to high standard this year, but the load limit on it is still 59,000 pounds. This was tabled by Council with information to be obtained from the M D off Starland regarding its load limits and also i formation obtained regarding the load limits on lighway 56 TROCHU EAST ROAD Mr Poole repo ted that the end of a culvert at the ANDEX OIL road at LSD 4-'93-30-24-4 has been plugged by trucks CULVERT turning too sh rt This was installed by Andex 011 LSD 4 -23 -30 -24 - and they are tc be contacted i concerning it The 4 person to contqct is Hary Van der Hill 11 FORM 49 SPECIAL 15 Mr Campbell m ved that the letter from Beton Structures Limited regarding the salt storage shed SALT STORAGE be filed. SHED ® Carried Letter of October 8th from the Village of Irricana FIRE CALL stated that the Village refuses to pay for the IRRICANA fire services on April 24th, 1974, at which time the fire truck was called by the R C.M P Mr Ferguson moved that a reply be sent stating that Council believ s the Village has a definite obligation and further that no more fire calls will be answer Ed in Irricana and that the R C M P and the Linden Fire Department be so advised with '• the reasons. Carried Mr. Bauer move that Council approve of the road PACIFIC PET crossing by Pa ific Petroleum Pipeline south of PIPELINE Section 6-32-2L-4, subject to boring and regular ROAD CROSSING regulations Carried Machinery was ciscussed briefly with reference to an 814 Cat Iractor - second hand - which may MACHINERY be available f om R Angus Mr Church rep rted that the motor grader operated MOTOR GRADER i by Karl Gundla h had upset recently There were ACCIDENT no injuries, bit the machine had been taken to K GUNDLACH Coneco in Calgary for repairs This has been reported to the insuran e company Mr Poole requsted that Mr Gerry Law, Agricultural HAY Engineer be ag in contacted in regard to the Hartley WASHOUT Hay washout pr blem in the SE 19-29-23-4• SE 19-29-23-4 11 FORM 49 SPECIAL 15 COUNCIL MEETING - OCTOBER 22nd,1974 P 15 Mr G G King gave a brief resume of the service of Mr S C Schmelke as Councillor. He served in the former M.D of Stauffer from March of 1941 until the large unit was formed at the start of 1944 RETIR He returned to Council in May of 1945 and served continually fr m that time until now. From 1945 until the pres nt he had been elected by acclamation every term exc pt 1950 That record speaks highly of his fair tr atment of all concerned. Mr Brown moved that a motion be placed on record commending Mr Schmelke for his wonderful service as a Councillor and that he be extended best wishes for a happy retirement Carried Mr Schmelke spoke briefly In reply and stated that he had enjoyed his work with fellow Councillors and z with the office staff at all times It was agreed hat a Christmas Committee arrange CHRISTMAS for a Christma party similar to last year and that COMMITTEE they have full charge to go ahead with arrangements.
