Some suggsted that Canada Thistle is one of the wors but 41Tild Oats still cause the greatest loss s. Some of those listed as the bad weeds by the Department are not really considered as suchlocally. He estimated these took about 60f of his time. 2 Water Programs under P.F.R.A. such as applica- tions for dams, dug -outs and other matters WATER PROGRAMS 3 A R.D.A. for such thinEs as livestock watering systems, etc, 4 Labor Assistance - placing of help on farms, etc 5 Grassland Incentive Program which is a Federal Program to get some land seeded back to GRASSLAND INCENTIVE grass and to encourage keeping of cattle. 6 Tree Applications TREES 7 E tension work and advice in regard to live - stock weeds, and many items EXTENSION WORK $o General circulation of pamphlets and many other items PAMPHLETS Ideas were invited for to_)icsfor the Regional Conference to be held at High River in the REGIONAL CONFER. latter part of January, 1974. One topic suggested was Wild Oat Control Mr. S hmelke moved that 11r. Norman Soder and Mr G rdon Ward, or alternates- be authorized to attend the Weed Control Conference for Western Canada to be held in Calgary November 27 to 29 and t at Mr Soder get programs concerning this sours . Carried A number of other items were discussed briefly, including 1 Roadside Grass Seeding - Suggested that all future agreements show what grass is preferred by th farmer The need for a new double disc with travel wheels alsc was mentioned 2 don ide Mowing - All secondary roads were 973. Mr. Soder mentioned he had been asked about having DEMONSTRATIONS one demonstration in the area at the Trochu Hosrjital No decision was made., Sortie discussion followed in regard to hours of w rk New Provincial re.ulations state WORK the tours shall not exceed hours a day and a 44 hour week without overtime Mr Poole HOURS move that this be tabled and referred to Coun il.
