Mr Soder explained that the purpose of the MEETING"S PURPOSE

staff and the public could better co-operate

Mr. R ssell Horvey, recently appointed District RUSS HORVEY
Agriculturalist for this area, was introduced
to th meeting
Some opics discussed ,n a general way included: DISCUSSIONS
1 Oxtreach - It was suggested that the D.A.
and A . Fieldman should get out to see the people

regarding chemicals, etc It was also suggested that
there is really no need to compete against the
elevator agents Perhaps concentration could
be given to other items of importance
2. eeds - Which are the bad weeds? Some
suggsted that Canada Thistle is one of the
wors but 41Tild Oats still cause the greatest
loss s. Some of those listed as the bad weeds
by the Department are not really considered as
suchlocally.

would like to spend mole time in the outlying
areas and meeting with -the people, but Mr
Horve in particular referred to the amount of
office work required and stated he ishat

The re—establishment of an Agricultural Advisory

5 Grassland Incentive Program which is a
Federal Program to get some land seeded back to GRASSLAND INCENTIVE

Ideas were invited for to_)icsfor the Regional
Conference to be held at High River in the REGIONAL CONFER.

was Wild Oat Control
Mr. S hmelke moved that 11r. Norman Soder and
Mr G rdon Ward, or alternates- be authorized to
attend the Weed Control Conference for Western
Canada to be held in Calgary November 27 to 29
and t at Mr Soder get programs concerning this

A number of other items were discussed briefly,
including
1 Roadside Grass Seeding - Suggested that all
future agreements show what grass is preferred
by th farmer The need for a new double disc
