APPROVED Carried Mr Korman Soder gave a brief report concerning a PESTICIDE Pesticide Applicator's Course to be held in Olds He stated APPLICATORS registrat on was $5 00 per day and Mr A. H. Church moved COURSE that it w uld be okay for R.orman Soder to go Monday P M., Tuesday alid Thursday to this Pesticide Applicator's Course Carried. Mrordon Park, Ag. Fieldman, read his report as per copy ith these minutes Mr R G Campbell moved acceptanc of this report Carried Pict res were passed out and Mr A W Bauer, Mr Gordon Park and Mr Norman Soder each gave a brief report concernin the roadside mower they had seen at the County of Flagstaff. Mr. C W Poole moved that the Service Board be a committee to look into the purchase of a mower and get prices and information and bring back a report to next meeting Brief discussion was held concerning the Agricul- tural Service Board Conference in Edmonton with R W Brown moving that a letter be sent with the following suggestions 1 That the resolutions coming from the Regional Con- ventions be sent to a committee before the Conference to co-ordinate the different resolutions on the same topic an 2 That Ithe different Departments of the Province involved should have a speaker at the Conference when the resolutions effect their departments Mr IC W Poole moved the acceptance of the report of the coInference Carried N AG. Mr Gordon INCREASE Ward moved that the Secretary write a letter advising the Deparr,ment of Agriculture that we would like to raise our budget by $1500 00 Carried Disc ssion was held concerning the p,soposed TAPE RECORDER purchase f a tape recorder and Mr A. Fieldman be reviewed at the end of 60 days with salaries to be arranged at that time' There was also a suggestion of a man working between the A S B and the Seed Cleaning Plant Applications were received from Alton Kober,.Mike Petersen, Barry Dau, Greig Van Doren and John Groot d Brief discussion was held regarding a tool box for the Service Board pickup and Mr S C. Schmelke moved we purchase the tool box for $25 00 Carried Mr Dan Peters presented the meeting with a cheque for $398 18 for the 1972 Warble Control Program and reported that the arrangements had been made with Mr Alfred L urance, the Brand Inspector, to inspect Warbles at Aucti n Marts from March 1 to May 31st Mr Gordon Park rep rted that he had found no infested cattle ✓, through lis inspections Discussion took place concerning items from the Annual M eting Mr R 19 Brown moved that we ask for permissi n to sell pound animals at Auction Marts. Carried The meeting generally felt that we should not put out coyote baits fo.- coyote control unless greatly needed a d Mr. Gordon Park reported that the Government now has Iredator Contro� Specialists to exterminate killer a imals It was further suggested that we bring in a pre ator specialist to speak next fall. PARK w4w expressin his thanks to Council and staff for the LETTER OF co-operat on and encouragement given him over the past THANKS twenty years Mr. T A Ferguson moved a vote of thanks to Mr Gordon Park Carried Disc ssion was then held regarding our Grasshopper GRASSHOPPER Control Program and Mr T A Ferguson moved that this CONTROL Municipal District subsidize any persons spraying for PROGRAM grasshopp rs to a maximum of one-half of the cost of chemicals. Carried The ecretary read a letter from A.A M D & C TORDON regarding Tordon Chemical in which the Association CHEMICALS advises us to purchase our requirements directly from Dow Chemical Mr R. W Brown reported that a Neguvon equivalent is soon to be licensed in Canada and that the A . Young (its present representative to the CRPC) Trochu - Councillor H Bondar Sec -Treasurer - Mr H Somerville The following letters pertaining to this matter were read ® 1 From the Provincial Planning Director asking Council's opinion 2 Letter from the Town of Three Hills stating it preferred membership in the Red Deer area. 3 Letter from the M D. of Starland stating it agres to go with whichever area is favored by 1he M D of Kneehill The representatives present from Trochu stated that the Town of Trochu preferred joining the Red Deer area and has sent a letter to the Provincial Planning Director concerning this Mr R W Brown and other Council members and the Sec. -Treasurer reported regard- ing the meeting of Council with Mr Bob Cundy, Director of the Red Deer Planning Commission area It was noted that the premises and staff would be a mayor problem if other areas were added there Getting and keeping of suita le staff is also a major problem at the Calgary rea It appeared that the Red Deer area was much str Iter in its control over subdivision develop- ment Ot er matters of general interest were also dis- cussed Mr Church reported that the City of Drumheller has gone on record as favoring membership in the Calgary Regional Planning Commission The delegates present thanked Council and then left the meeting Some further discussion then followed within the Council of the M D oflKneehill MEMBERSHIP RE RED DEER PLANNING AREA Mr Poole moved that a reply be sent to the Pro- vincial Planning Director in regard to the above matter stating as follows UWhatev r the Provincial Planning Board considers will be in t e bestinterests of the Municipalities concerned will be acceptable to the Municipal District of Kneehill No mattEr which Regional Planning area serves this Municip lity, there is a definite need for more money and staf so that the required work can be efficiently and pro ptly dealt with " Motion harried FORM 149-V SOECIAL a 5 VA i I/ Highway Ford Sales Shaw GMC Trucks Longs A to Sales Ltd. DIV 500 Carried I RE BUS A proposed agreement from the Village of Linden was V OF LINDEN read in regard to the storage of the fire truck This FIRE TRUCK will be in a new building to be built by the Village lir Brownmoved that this agreement be accepted and signed Carried. Mr R W Brown asked to be excused from the meeting R BROWN at this ime as he had to go to Edmonton He left the EXCUSED meeting t approximately 4 30 P M Mr C W Poole, Deputy C POOLE Reeve, t en took charge of the meeting IN CHARGE Mr Ferguson moved that Council note and file invitation INVITATION to the oficial opening at Ferguson Supply Ltd in Calgary OPENING on May 4 Carried Correspondence regarding bridges at Carbon was read BRIDGES AT CARBON and contents noted lvlr Bauer moved that the information the be accepted and filed and that the letter regarding the Village of Carbon ✓ bridge to the island be referred to is the responsibility of as any decision concerning it the Village Carried Mr Church moved that a letter be sent to Linden LETTER TO Machine Works advising that the Linden east -west road LINDEN MACHINE is not a secondary road and therefore does not show WORKS on Provincial maps Carried Mr Schmelke moved that all applications as received EMPLOYMENT for wor be referred to Mr Ted Paquette. Carried chmelke moved that the following arrangements r the Tax Sale to be held here on March 30th Reserve Bids Lot 1, B1 ck 2, Plan 7015EF, Wimborne 3500 Lot 12, Block 8, Plan 4761EH, Sunnyslope T35 00 That the Auctioneer be John Jeffery and that the Clerk of the Sale be Mr G G King Carried Mr Schmelke reported there had been problems with the water system at Wimborne and it appears that some of the tees in the original installation were not satisfactory and perhaps will need to be replaced Mr Schmelke moved that a letter be written to Mr C Servold, Engineer, for a full report and that he be asked to con- tact Mr Campbell who did the installation work Carried A letter from the County of Minburr gave notice that it is presenting a motion at the Spring Meeting of the A sociation in Edmonton on March 28th asking that a 5 cretary-Treasurer be appointed to the Boundari s Advisory Committee Mr Ferguson moved that this inf rmation be filed Carried Mr Ted Paquette reported briefly in regard to the foll wing 1 The new D -7F was delivered here on March 21/73 2 He cannot get a crane originally proposed for the one ton truck but he can get a comparable unit for the same price. 3 He ias hired three new men in the last week but is iaving trouble getting any with experience Mr Joe Dobler reported that there had been some minor problems with the loader He also suggested we buy a second-hand stove for the trailer at a price of approximately $30 00 Mr Bauer moved that Council approve Of the purchase of a stove at this price Carried Nir Dobler reported that Mr Elmer Albrecht had got two Loads of gravel even though he was on the black list. Mr Bauer agreed to look into this and report back to the next meeting Mr Dobler reported that he is still running the two hifts at gravel stockpiling but will keep close ch ck on road conditions. FIELDMAN TO JOINT COUNCIL AND AGRICULTURAL SERVICE BOARD MEETING MARCH 26, 1973 This report is general covering activities since last meeting Have sprayed approximately 490 head of cattle for lice and warbles Checked cattle for warbles at Trochu and Acme Auction Marts March 14 & 15 and have engaged Alfred Lawrence of Carbon to do the necessary Warble inspections at the two Auction Marts, while he is inspecting for brands We have checked the private Seed Cleaning Plants working in the area and sent the ratings into Edmonton for the permits i .Art Bauer, Norman Soder and Gordon Park travelled to Sedgewick to look at a roadside Flail type mower built by the County !� of Flagstaff and used on their surfaced roads Some good pictures I were taken by us We had hoped to talk to the Shop Foreman and get 1 some idea of the cost of building the mower but were unable to get any information They were to send us some idea of the cost Norman attended and helped judge the Three Hills 4-H beef club meeting public speaking He also attended a Treflan Meeting at Beiseker Gordon Park attended two meetings in Trochu on Landscape and Farmstead planning, a part of the Horticultural Course being held at Trochu jointly sponsored by the Trochu Horticultural group, the Alberta Department of Agriculture and the Kneehill A S B We assisted in setting up the Mechanics Course that was held in Lawrence Kahler's Shop south east of Trochu Norman Soder spent one day with the Farm Management Course when all available instructors were tied up, or down with the flu Reg Campbell and Norman Soder met with Glen Smyth re his proposed employment with the A S B. on January 25th We assisted in the weighing of seven bulls for one farmer Norman Soder and Glen Smyth attended the Inservice Training Course held at Olds It was a good course and Glen Smyth felt that it was very informative Norman Soder has applied for his Pesticide Applicators License for 1973 There are some special upgrading courses to be held at Olds Norman plans on attending these courses on the afternoon of Monday, March 26, all day Tuesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 29th Gordon Park and Norman Soder checked the 1080 baits that we have out in the M D on Feb 1st We have picked up and destroyed two of the three baits The one at Rock s is still out as there is quite a bit of snow there We didn't find any dead coyotes About one-half of each bait was eaten '� A IN I �40 FORM 149-0 SPECIAL i s s i,IUNICIP L DISTi2ICT OF KNEEHILL No.48 Three g1ills,-lberta T ;.K S,,LE------------------- 14arch 30, 1973 The following is a report of the Tax Sale held at the office of the Municipal District of Kneehill No 48 in Three Hills, iilberta on Friday, iIarch 30, 1973, commencing at 2:00 p m Mr J C Jeffery acted as auctioneer and lir G G King as Clerk of the Sale There were approximately seven pr sent.
