G King, Sec — Treasurer, was present and recorded the Minutes Mr Don Dau of the Three Hills Schbol Division was present throughout the meeting Mr Arnold Boese of Linden Contractors met with Council Mr Gordon Ward, Rt.tepayer, was present during that portion of the meeting Mr Boese stated that they have now completed approximately 10,000 cu. yds. for the Municipal District at the Megli Pit He asked about further work at that pit and also about crushing some for the M D from the McNair Pit southwest of Beiseker. General discussion followed regarding gravel needs, etc. Mr Brown moved that Linden Contractors be authorized to do the following additional work- 1 At t e Megli Pit a further 10,000 cuo yds. plus approximately 1100 cu yds which the M D had borrowed from the Linden Contractors Stockpile 2 From McNair Pit — 5,000 cu. yds. Schafer had complained regarding old tin cans, TRASH elevator sweepings and other trash near the Allingham Elevator Further information is to be obtained Mr Poole moved that the Council Fire Committee FIRE meet with representatives of the three Fire Depa� .,,,;,L�s COMMITTEE at our office on Thursday, December 7 at 7 30 P M DEC 7 Carried Council agreed that the annual Christmas Party CHRISTMAS be held on Friday, December 8 if the employees so PARTY desire, Mr Dobler reported that he wished to stockpile GRAVEL gravel from the Lowen location soon while road con— LOWEN ditions are favorable Council agreed Mr Paquette reported that the gravel truck GR. W Brown moved the adoption of the Minutes of the Meeting of October 23, 1972 Carried The Secretary read a letter from Mr Ron Hilton of Water Resources Division stating that the Department of the Environment is offering local authorities the opportunity of participating in a cost shared winter works program from minor water resource management projects The M. D. is asked to submit names and locations of any projects within its boundaries which they feel may qualify for this assistance After brief discussion in which no projects could be thought of by our Council, Mr R G Campbell moved to file this correspondence Carried Mr Dan Peters gave a brief report regarding smell pollution .from certain hog and cattle operations Mr. Peters asked Council for any sol utions which they could give The general feeling of the meeting was that the Departmentof the Environment will have to step in and make any suggestions to sol ations for this problem Mr. Peters furiher reported the engineers are coming out in the near future to look at certain hog and cattle opera- tions WATER RESOURCF`' WINTER WORKS PROGRAM POLLUTION RE. HOG & CATTLE OPERATIONS The Secretary read a note from Mr Gordon Park, Ag MEETING Fieldman regarding the Regional ASB Conference The note DEC 5 stated that Mr Larry Welsh, Regional Plant Industry 10 °00 A M Supervisor, and Mr Gary Miller, Supervisor, Field Services,RE REG. D & County offices 3 General discussion followed regarding a rotary mower, possibly to be attached to a grader or small tractor Mr R. W. Brown moved that Mr. G L. Park report to the next meeting regarding estimates, etc for a rotary mower. Carried Page 2 4 Wild Oat Program — It was suggested that the M D pay a subsidy by quarter section to assist farmers in the spraying of wild oats General discussion followed in which a resolution was suggested for the Regional meeting to ask the chemical companies to lower their prices. Mr C W Poole moved that the Service Board present a resolution to the Regional Service Board Confer- ence to look into the high costs of wild oat chemicals Carried The Secretary reported briefly that we had five applicatons for the Asst. Ag Fieldman to date and read the names of the applicants to Council Mr G L Park reported that he had three written applications to date for 1080 bait from Philip Rock, Ray Andrew and Stephen Cullum Mr C W Poole gave a brief report on the Agri- cultural Development Committee meeting in Calgary last week Mr.!Dan Peters reported there would be a tax meeting in Drumheller towards the end of January Mr adjourn.
