Mr Ted Paquette, Public Works Superintendent, was present thro ghout the meeting. Mr G 0. King, Secretary- Treasurer, was present and recorded the Minutes. Notice was read advising that the Task Force com- mittee was t0 meet with Mr Thigh Bodmer at Carbon this evening Mr R W Brcrn stated he would be able to attend in his capacity on th '7tit committee. Mr Poole moved. that Mr Ralph Brown present the brief regarding Crop Insurance Carried Brief discussion follcwed in regard to the Weather Modification portion of the brief. Brown ig represent the Municipal District at the -ri ed Mr. Poo Le reported that Steve Goacher has asked about leave f absence for approximately one to two months if a -eplacement is available to operate the motor grader in Div. 2. Mr Goacher has been having some back tr uble due to standing in the machine for long hours lscussion followed. Mr. Poole moved that Council gran Mr. Goacher leave of absence commencing August 14th ind not to exceed two months unless otherwise agreed by Co ncil and that this leave of absence be with- out pay Carried. Mr Poole asked why this Municipal District put the cold -mix material in a dry hole without oil whereas the Government c ew use more oil when patching holes Mr Ted Paquette advised that our material is made to be used as we a e doing and that the Provincial Government uses a diffe ent material and different procedure Mr Brown asked for some further clarification in regard to the records for down -time of any machines. The intent of the policy in brief was explained by Mr G King as being repairing time plus the time obtaining the repairs The con ition of the Trcchu east road was discussed. Ward W & Pippus 42 Total 25 Page 3 1972 GRADING PROGRAM noted that the estimated time required for all would be 25 weeks whereas there are only approx. aeks left this year After further discussion, was authorized to proceed with grading projects crew in the following order V 1 Huxley West 2 Eve etts 3. Not als 4 Schindel - Huether The total elctimated time for those would be 13 weeks. The patch crew fobs wero reviewed and Mr Paquette PATCH CREW stated most of those listed for 1972 would be completed, „ PROJECTS however, some new projects had been added so some others will be left, undone Mr Zerilak of the Lamplighter Inn in Grantville met ZEMLAK with Council and requested that the Municipal District (L.AMPLIGHTER pay him $15.00 for gravel which he had hauled by Ronvs INN) Trucking to fill a hole in the approach road He had requested Municipal work twice but nothing had been done as quickly Ls he had hoped He stated the road still needs maintenance and a small amount of gravel. It was agreed that this be tabled until the afternoon Mr Zemlak than ed Council and then left the meeting The Co ncil Meeting adjourned for dinner from 12 00 ✓ DINNER Noon until l 00 P M. Councillor A W Bauer was present for the afternoon ✓ A W BAUER session. An inv tation to Reeve Brown to represent the Municipal District at the Stettler Fair parade on August 11th was read Mr B own stated he could not attend but suggested that some o her Councillor go in his stead After discussion, it was evid nt that all of the Councillors were very busy and none wished to attend Mr Schmelke then moved that G G. King epresent the Municipal District at this function arried /W See Page 4 STETTLER FAIR V I/ Brief discu sion followed and Mr Luft gave further information particularly in regard to the type of doors on his buil ing Mr Luft then left the meeting Mr. ScImelke moved that a new shop building 409 x 1044 WILSON be ordered from Wilson Arches as per its bid for a total ARCHES BID price of $8,123 00 with the two doors and including two =' ACCEPTED coats of painting on the ends. Carried Mr. Luft then left the meeting as did also Mr Jeffery. The brief to be presented to the Cabinet committee BRIEF RE in regard to Crop Insurance and Weather Modification was CROP INS then further discussed. Mr. Poole moved that Council with- ETC draw all comments regarding Weather Modification from the brief which is being submitted to the M.L A. special committee. Carried. Mr Brown outlined his ideas in respect ante and referred to a resolution previously the Agricultural Service Board to its confer, Strathmore about December, 1971 and Edmonton 1972. He wat authorized to draw up a written the M L A. ommittee to Crop Insur- submitted by antes at in February, proposal for Discussion followed about whether or not the Balder- BALDERSON son tractor should be hired to pull the packers. BOESE Fieldman was read with his request that it be effective RESIGNATION August 31st Mr Ferguson moved that this be accepted and that Mr. Lorne Boese be wished well in his new employment. Carried Mr. Larry Luft, agent of Wilson Arches met with Sec treasurer L. LUFT & Council and .r. Mr Brown r moved that the Road Committee check regarding this. Carried At the request of Nrt. Zemlak for $15.00 for the gravel at the Lamplighter Inn /was further discussed. Mr. Ferguson moved that this account be not paid as it had not been first authorized by Council but that this Municipal District endeavour t provide better maintenance in the future Carried.
