King showed Council a map giving decisions PRAIRIE FARM recently received in regard to Prairie Farm Assistance ASSISTANCE payments to be made in portions of 31 -22 -4, 31 -23 -4 and PAYMENTS 31 -24 -4 Sore discussion followed Mr. Ferguson moved that this information be accepted and the results pub- licized. Mr. Brown moved that this Council support th application for the arendment Carried The tax situation in respect to the A of Lots A L 15 & 16 15 and 16, Block 2, Wimborne was referred to Council BLK 2, Taxes and penalties owing to date, not including 1972 WIMBORNE levy, total $347 31 This property had been offered TAXES, ETC. at tax sale in March of this year with a reserve bid of $250 00 but had not been sold. Mr H Guard had been at the office a few days ago and had asked if Council would give a cancellation of some of the arrears. Mr H Rob nske then met with Council and stated that he is willing to pay $250 00 as full settlement of the tax arrears and penalties This would be on behalf of "X Mrs Dorothy Guard and he would be buying the property from her Discussion followed Mr. Schmelke moved that Council accept $250 00 as full settlement of the tax arrears a d penalty in respect to W2 of Lots 15 & 16, Block 2, imborne and that the remaining $97.31 be cancelled under the provisions of the Municipal Taxation Act Carried The 1971 Recreation Report of the Grainger Commun- GRAINGER ity Society was read to Council Mr Schmelke moved that RECREATION this be accepted and filed. Carried REPORT The 1971 Recreation Report of the Village of Linden VILLAGE OF was read howing total expenditures of $919 10 Mr '� LINDEN REC Campbell roved that this be approved and Municipal Grant REPORT for 1971 4uthorized paid at this time. Mr King advised Council that he had looked up REPORT RE the records in retard to 1967 Centennial Grants as re- CENTENNIAL quested al a previous meeting The ;rants had been GRANTS authorizec in 1967 and Council had extended the time for earni g these grants through 196$ and 1969 Any amounts n t earned by the end of 1969 had been written off. Carried .A letter dated April 2072 from the Alberta Farm ALBERTA FARM Purchase Board was read to Council. This stated that PURCHASE BD the total allotment for loans in this Municipal Dis- RE LOANS trict in 1972 will likely be $40,000 00 and it will not be a ailable before the session ends It asked that Cou cil submit a priority list. Each Councillor was giver a list showing that 13 applications had been com leted at our Office and 1 other is pending. One of t e applications had been refused as total holdings would be over $50,000 but the other 12 appeared to be in order for approval Considerable discussi n followed Mr Ferguson moved that a letter be writt n to Dr H Horner, Minister of Agriculture, with cop3 to the Hon. A Warrack and Mr Gordon Taylor a M L A 's pointing out the need for greater financial assistance under the Alberta Farm Purchase Board, g ving a list of the applications considered here and stating that it is very difficult for Council to set a priority list when all applicants are actu lly entitled to the loan and that Council ask that this whole matter be seriously reviewed Carried The application of Lawrence W Olsen to purchase L W OLSEN the N2 -1 - 28 -20 -4 from his mother under the Alberta ALTA. Carried Letter from Mr. C Copithorne, Minister of Highways was read stating that it would be impos- sible to include the heavy surfacing of Highway 27 east in the 1972 program A letter from Gordon E Taylor, DI L A , was also read in respect to this, together with a copy of the letter to him from the Mini ter of Highways. That letter suggested they miglit use some road oiling for dust control. Mr Ferguson moved that this information be accepted and filed Carried. Berdahl of Hesketh Unifarm were read in NORTH WEST regard to the Nacmine north -west road Letter of Gordon ROAD E Taylor, M L A to Mr Berdahl was also read regarding this It appeared that the Minister of Highways is somewhat in error in regard to the location of the road as he refers to it as one within this Municipal District Hr Ferguson moved that a further letter be written t the Minister of Highways pointing out clearly that the road referred to is in the Local Improvement District and needs regrading as well as surfacing and that a co v of this be sent to Mr Gordon Taylor Carried. Mr Don Dau of the Three Hills School Division came d in to the meeting at this time, being approximately 1 30 P M. Mr. laquette advised that our TS -14 has been in TS -14 the shop for a few days while they are putting on the roll bar He also stated that Ferguson Supply will be d doing sorod welding on the TS -1$ tomorrow under warranty General discussion took place regarding road signs, ROAD SIGNS etc and Mr. Paquette was asked to get the Yield signs ,,J up at the corner south of Jensens near Huxley. Tr, Paquette stated that some of the employees have SNOWFENCES been picking up snowfences and will be proceeding with this as w ather perr°its. Mr. Ted Paquette then left the meeting. I-r. After discussion, PRr Churc moved that Council approve of the following for surfa ing RESURFACING 1 Huxl y .Test - 12 miles - New surfacing. 2. Orkney area - 62 miles - New surfacing 3 Linden East - 3 miles - Resurfacing 4. Acme West - 1 mile - Resurfacing V 5 Pope Lease - Approximately 4 miles - Resurfacing Tro hu East - 3 miles for resurfacing or working up, maintaining and oiling 7. 0th r locations that may show up - 3 miles re- surfacing Motion Carried. In the discussion which took place, some of the PATCHES Councill rs mentioned the need for better patching and the lossible necessity of getting a full time ✓ crew for this during summer weather The tentative budget was then further reviewed with reference to revenue and expenditure items as '= ?UONSPT contained in the report. Council was then asked for BUILDING 7uidance in regard to items which had been tabled APPROVED at previous meetings in regard to a new shop or shop extensiom and in regard to the two -way radio system Considerable discussion followed Mr Schmelke moved that provision be made in the budget for a new quonset building at $6,000. After discussio , it was suggested that the budget discussion be held w th the Three Hills School Division somewhere between t e dates of May 1 and 4th Mr Dau is to re- fer this to the School Division and advise later.
