Carried Mr. G L Park, Ag. Fieldman, gave his report to the members as per copy with these Minutes. Mr. T A Ferguson moved the acceptance of the Ag. Fleldm.an's report Carried. General discussion followed concerning Gordon Park's report reggarding the Farm Mechanic's Course held at Carbon and 10 0 bait for coyote control Mr T A. Ferguson moved to pay Lorne Boese $10 00 registration for the pruning course at Brooks Carried General discussion took place concerning the 1972 budget It was suggested we keep cost records by main categories. E g break down roadside seeding costs by per mile labor rates. Mr. R G Campbell moved our payment for roadside lanting of trees remain the same in 1972 as follows 46 00 for the lst year, $36 00 for the 2nd year and 26.00 for t1te 3rd year Mr T. Mr. Reimer stated that Burns Pickers has noted a dramatic decrease in cattle infes ed with warbles this February He further stated Burns would be happy to have various A S B groups visit their killing floor to see the affect of Warbles and the Warble Control Program Mr R. G. Campbell moved that this information be filed. Carried Mr G L Park expressed thanks to the Council for THANKS the Long Service Award he received at the Annual Meeting Mr A W. AND COUNCIL MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL No 48 Monday, March 27, 1972 ® Assisted in setting up Farm Mechanics Course at Carbon Eleven farmers took this course and reports have been very favorable Consideration should therefore be given to having this type of course in another area of the District next winter, Moved '1080 bait from Torrington Colony to deBeaudrap location. ',bout 20% of this bait had been eaten at the Torrington location I did not get a chance to inspect the three other locations during the wint, but will be picking these up shortly as conditions permit I spent the week of Feb 7 -11th at the Olds College on Inservice Training. Communications, Plant & Entomology This is a very valuable course to Fieldm better equip:ing us to handle day to day problems. A successfull two day Rapeseed meeting was held on Feb.15th,16th with an average attendance of about 130 I attended an ASB Conference in Edmonton Feb 23/- 25 and gained valuable information from the conference and shop talk with other ASB people in the province. Most of March has been spent in the office activities A two day E M.O. Rescue Course was held at our Three Halls shop with 20 people from the Kneehill area taking part. Councillors present for this meeting were Mr A. H Church Div. 1 Mr C. W. Poole d 2 Mr. A W. Bauer 4° 4 Mr. T A Ferguson or Mr S C Schmelke if 65 Mr R. G. Campbell if 7 In the absence of Reeve R. W Brown, Mr. C W Poole as Deputy Reeve, took charge of the meeting Mr. G G. King, Secretary - Treasurer, was present and recorded the Minutes. Mr. Gordon Ward, ratepayer was present for a portion of the afternoon meeting. DEPUTY REEVE SEC -TREAS G WARD Mr. Church moved approval of the Minutes of the Meeting MINUTES of March 13th and 20th, 1972 Carried. APPROVED Mr G King advised Council that all farm lands that had been listed for tax sale today had been redeemed but TAX SALE there are still properties to be offered in Swalwell and Wimborne Mr Campbell moved that the following arrange- ments be made for the Tax Sale to be held this afternoon 1 That Mr J. C Jeffery act as auctioneer. 2. That Mr. G G King be the clerk of the sale 3 That the re er. -e bid for Lot 24, Block 3, Swalwell, Plan 5050AK be set at $10 00. 4 That the reserve bid for the A of Lots 15 and 16, Block 2, Wimborne Plan 7015EF be set at $250.00, including both land and buildings. Carried Mr. Church moved that Mr C. W Poole be authorized L 24, B. 31 to bid on behalf of the Municipal District for Lot 24, SWALWELL Block 3, Swalwell, with the said property to be used as RE PLAY - a playground Carried GR OU ND The matter of a grant for Weather Modification had been tabled on March 20th pending further information. WEATHER Mr G. King now gave Council the following information MODIFICATION 1 A letter from the Provincial Department of Municipal Affairs stating that it is not legal to give an outright grant but Section 267 of the Municipal Government Act must be used for Weather Modification 2 A report of a phone call from the Office of the Minister of Agriculture advised that the Provincial Government does not have funds available to pay the large portion of the costs as had been stated by the petitioners. Mr- Poole reported that he had talked to Dr. Allan Warrack, M L A , together with other ratepayers of the Municipal District and he verified in part the information as given above. Mr Bauer moved that Council approve holding a vote VOTE RE on Thursday, April 13th /72 to determine the wishes of the BY -LAW people in re-and to By -Law No 692 as referred to above # 692 and with voting places to be at Trochu and Huxley and APRIL 13 with Mr G. King apologized to Mr Stan Schmelke for having overlooked the fact at the time of the Annual Meeting last Monday that Mr Schmelke was entitled to a seal for 3C years service to go with his Long Service Award The plans for the seals had been authorized that morning and in the rush of the business of the Annual Meeting, etc the presentation had been overlooked.
