Shop Committee Meeting
December 6, 1971 Page 1
A Shop Committee Meeting was held in the Council
Chambers o Monday, December 6, 1971 commencing at
9 30 A.M.
The following were present
C. W. Poole T. C. Paquette
T. A. Ferguson John Dorn
Joe D bler J C Jeffery
Mr T C. Paquette reported he had seen the sander
unit in Edmonton and that it was not suitable for our
needs as it only has a one -way hoist
The Secretary read a letter from Woolsley Trans-
port stating they had several trailers for sale. The
general opinion was that no more are required at this
time
The S cretary reported that, Mr Robert Tetz has
stated tha he was interested in the Ag. Fieldmants
half -ton ecommendation We keep it for another year
and do not put up for bids at this time
It waO decided that the Shop Committee recommend to
Council to purchase the following equipment
One - lw ton cab and chassis - dual wheels, V -8,
4 spe either trade or sell outright T.2 -5A-
which is a 1958 I H C and is used as a welder
truck at the present time
One - I New Motor Grader ic,(- ommend calling for
tenders and trading P 5 -64 which is a 1965 Cham-
pion 600 motor grader
One - Crawler trading C 3 -56, a 1956 Caterpillar
D.8-14A or calling tenders for one new motor scraper
and trading R 6 -62 and R.7 -61 which are 1962 and
1961 Euclid TS -14 motor scrapers.
The S cretary was to write to Wilson Arches Ltd and
Alberta Ar h Ribs & Beams to ascertain firm prices on the
following tecifications
1- 4 4 x 1044 x 174 s ±orage building with a 2 foot
found isphalt tion and 32" rafters
1- 2 4 x 174 door with a walk -in door
Grey singles
The S cretary was asked to get price, from Downe4s
Sand & Gra el for pouring the foundation
The c mmittec decided to Heave the decision regard-
ing the Sh p Foreman to the Council at its meeting on
December 4771
The meeting adjourned at 11 15 A.M.

Hourly Employees represented by Mr Geo Berry - truck crew,
K. Gundl ch & R Ehrman - Motor Grader men, R Cranston and
D. Kober - main crew
Employee represLntatives had nct been paid for the previous
meeting ue to some rrversLght. Will be aid for that meeting
and for his meeting at a.graed rates of K2,50 plus 12¢ mile

Still wi ling to work 11 hrs, so total time would be 112 hrs. approx.
Explaine to them that the ': f .eels travel time was one reason for
difference in pay as compared to M G men, also reference to
possible restrictions under Hours of Work regulations

Motor Grader men - close the gap between groups B & C.
Truck dr'vers believe that they should get hourly rate at least
equal to that of road crew's winter rate
Also dis ussed both sides of having lst, 2nd. 3rd yr rates
Banking request for app 2 hrs. "ff on Friday following pay -day

Boss at shop - confusion when no one is in charge and different
people g've different orders as to what should be done.
