HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-06-07 Council MinutesMUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL #48 SHOP COMMITTEE MEETING JUNE 7, 1971 Page 1 A Shop Committee meeting was held in the Council chambers on Monday, June 7, 1971 commencing at 10 30 A M The following were present C W Poole, T C Paquette, A. R. Sommerville, T. A. Ferguson, Joe Dobler and J C Jeffery, who recorded the minutes. General discussion took place about the three new NEW TANDEM trucks, with Mr Dobler stating that the units were TRUCKS not properly geared, which creates very slow starts and have a top speed of 78 m p h It was agreed that C W Poole, T A Ferguson and T. C Paquette see Southrldge Mercury and try to arrive at a satisfactory solution Mr. Sommerville stated that the locks to the PARTSROOM partsroom have been changed and that Mr Joe Dobler and KEYS Mr Keith Smith have the only keys It was reported to the Committee that the shop RESPONSIBILITY had been left open on at least one occasion after work- FOR LOCKING ing hours It was agreed that Mr A. R. Sommerville SHOP- A R be responsible for locking the shop after working hours SOMMERVILLE Mr Dobler reported the gravel crew was a little concerned about wearing hard hats when the other crews HARD HATS do not. The Committee informed the foremen that Council had ordered that all employees shall wear their hard hats. Mr A. R Sommerville reported we have a build -up USED TUBE of tubes due to our change to Michelen tires The BUILD -UP Committee advised Mr Sommerville to try and sell them to Crown Tire for the best price he could get Mr A R Sommerville reported that the heaters in the welding room are not working properly The pilot lights keep blowing out and in his opinion the heaters should have electric starts The Ccmmittee asked Mr Sommerville if he would see the gas company and get a price on electric starts for the heaters and report back to Council Mr. Joe Dobler asked if he could purchase air trips for the tail gates for the gravel trucks He stated the men could not drive the trucks, change gears and trip the tail gates all at the same time Mr Dobler was advised to ask K J Smith to find a price on the air trips. FAULTY HEATERS THREE HILLS SHOP AIR TRIPS - GRAVEL TRUCKS Mr. A. R. Sommerville stated that he thought WAGES - the wages of Mr James I Ferguson were too low as J I FERGUSON he is a fully qualified mechanic Mr Sommerville thought that he should make at least $3.00 per hour.
