HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-10-22 Council MinutesAPI %UW FORM 149-P SPECIAL U i I Pu Agrucultural Fi.eldmanQs report to Joint Meeting Council and Agricultural Service Board October 22, 1971 This report briefly deals with activities for the summer season During the months of June and July, my time was spent to a large degree working from the office making necessary farm calls, etc. as Mr Dan Peters was away on Education Leave. Our Ecology student Mr. Tim Kuefler, worked in very well and was able to do the lar er proportions of the school yard work and grass seeding in the arly part of the summer. Alproximately 400 miles of road was sprayed for weed control on both sides A proximately 36 miles of roadsides grass 1 game mixture which make us nearly 3 herds of cattle have been sprayed control this Fall D ring the month of August, we were Beet We worm and the Bertha Army worm in have been seeded to a caught up this Fall. with Coral for warble extremely busy with the rapeseed crops AjS B tour held on August 10th,, but was poorly attended. Those attending were impressed by the Demonstration plots and Lacombe Research Plots on the farm of Ralph Brown Our Weed control program suffered due to pressures of other work However, Lorne kept the spray rig busy on weed and brush cgntrol Our Toadflax spraying is down somewhat this year. I hope to do some soil sterilant work on some of the pavemen shoulders this Fall with chemical we have on hand to test Fail application as compared to Spring G G Park Ag. Fi.eldman
