Meeting called to order at 1 50 P Pi. Minutes of February 24th,. meet- ing were read and adopted on a motion by C. W. Poole. Business Arising from Minutes - - Motion to A.S.B. Conference re condemned animals Mr C W Poole reported the motion had been presented at A S.B Conference and from there directed to the Western Stock Growers Association. No replies to date. - Mention was made of other resolutions presented at A.S..B Conf- erence regarding noxious weeds etc. It was reported the Noxious Weed Act may be changed. - Discussion arose regarding the herbicide trial plots set out in the area and the use of herbicides during the year - P1r C W Poole reported to the meeting the Municipal Dist- rict was now a Warble Control ;Lrea as of September 15th, 1971 - Miss Leavitt outlined the spring and summer homemaking prog- rams for the area - Bishop Method - some women got a great deal of information, others did not A private sewing course on stretch fabrics had been held in Three Hills with a good attendance and was very well accepted, Rapeseed meeting planned for winter Identification of various insects attacking rapeseed Outlook, etc..- - Production - Markets, etc. - Diseases, insects, parasites - Weed control - What constitutes a problem? Agriculture Fieldman outlined some of the A.S.B. programs carried out, and suggested the District Agriculturist and himself would be very happy to attend and participate in any local meetings on weed control, insect control, soils and fertilizers, or any other topic of interest. ,4, 2 - 2 - Miss Verna Leavitt, District Home Economist, outlined her winter prog- rams stating a large portion of her programs are taking place in the County of Wheatland, which is part of her district Programs for this area are.- - Babysitting Course - Huxley, Carbon, Acme - Beginners' Sewing - Carbon - Advanced Sewing - Torrington - 6 T.V. Shows - Red Deer - 2 demonstrations using leftovers - Wimborne - Office demonstrations - Strathmore - Holidays March 26th - April 30th (subject to change) Dan Peters mentioned the Continuing Education Committee, which is pres- ently surveying the Municipal District in regards to adult education to determine interest and need for courses _ Suggestions from group- - Metric changeover course - Newsletter vs. Newspaper The consensus of opinion was that the Homemaker Newsletter is very welcome and definitely serves a useful purpose The cost is about 12¢ per sheet plus 7¢ for mailing Average cost per copy is 15¢ or approx- imately $880.00 per year. Suggested Names of New Members for Extension Council— Mrs. Ralph Lowen - Beynon - Mrs. Gordon Ward - Grainger Mr Arnold Baerg - Linden Election of Officers. - Chairman called for nominations.- Secretary, Mrs Dorothy Meston, nom- inated by Mrs. V. Church. Vice - Chairman, John Molendyk, nominated by Mrs. V Church Nominations cease by Craig Edwards Chairman, Alvin Gaetz, - nominated by Craig Edwards Nominations cease, Elmer Currie. New Business:- Next meeting - 7.30 P.M., Monday, November 29th, or to be called by Extension staff. The following were present C W oole T. C. Paquette T. A Ferguson J C Jeffery K. J . Cranston_ who will then take over res- ponsibility until Jan. 1/72 at which time further de- cisions will be made. To be recommended to Council for a purchase approx of a 24v wide, 164 high, 204 long extension to the north end of the partsroom The extensionshould be floor level high to facilitate a truck deck and loading platform for heavy materials and tires, cold storage building with an entrance to the existing partsroom Mr T. C. Paquette reported that a camper top should be purchased for the gravel foreman's I ton for hauling materials in winter time Approximate cost of a commer- cial model would be $300 -$400 It is possible we could build ourselves with 24 racks and a canvass top Bring up to Council meeting on Monday. Mr Paquette reported that Costelle Equipment will bill the M D for repairs and then issue a credit when the guaran ee comes through It was decided not to pay the invoic ) until the credit was received Mr. K J Smith reported we need a new gear lube dispenser approximate cost $70.00 Shop Committee recommends to Council that we purchase one CABS FOR 627 & 13UOT TS14 PARTS ROOM EXTENSION CAMPER TOP FOR GRAVEL FOREMAN 2 TON LOADER REPAIRS GEAR LUBE DISPENSER Mr. Smith also reported ,ae need a new, larger floor FLOOR JACK jack He was advised to try and find a new one suitable for our ne ds and bring a price back to the next meeting Mr S 'th reported that /present exhaust system was not workin satisfactorily. UIr Poole advised him he should the k either with the WCB inspector or the pro- vincial in pectors to see how system could be corrected and Mr. Poole advised he could also bring it up at the next council meeting for suggestions from other coun- cillors The meeting adjourned at 11 30 A.M f J,. N%V FORM 149 SPECIAL MUNICIPAL SUPPLIES AMBULANCE COMMITTEE MEETING OCTOBER 19, 1971 Page 2 Mr. Wa t Regehr reported that they had answered fourteen emergency calls from Sept 5th to Oct 18th He felt that in at least one case, they had saved the life of a atient Round rip mileage varied considerably but it appeared t at most calls were within the 150 to 200 mile range The am unt to be charged for ambulance service was discussed at considerable length and general terms agreed upoa Mr. Ferguson then moved that the fallowing rates be sat for ambulance service 1 To residents of the M. D of Kneehill or the Towns and Villages within its area - $20 00 minimum which will cover up to 80 miles and then 25¢ per mile on the total miles round trip over that mileage 2 Non - residents - A flat charge of $20 00 plus 25¢ per mile on the total miles covered Motion Carried It was agreed that the M D of Kneehill look after the ambulance funds and payments on a temporary basis and that something more permanent be considered at a later meeting A record of the funds will be kept separate Mr Welt Regehr mentioned that the Linden Nursing Home is w shing and cleaning all supplies and has been giving ex ellent co- operation They are certainly to be congratul ted and thanked f( ;r their work It wa agreed that the Towns and Villages and the M D of Kneehill be billed for a share of $10,000 for ambulancelcosts now on an equalized assessment basis It wa agreed that a report be put in the Three Hills Capital, the Trochu Tribune and the Acme Sentinel In regard to the ambulance service and the rates and other matters so that the general public would be more informed concerning it It wa also agreed that a copy of all invoices in connectio with ambulance costs would be given to Walt Rege r for his records The m ,6eting adjourned at 10 00 P M Copy of report to Each of those at the meeting, Sec -Treas of each T & V & M D of Kneehill k:`7 z7 G G King Acting Secretary i
