JEFFERY present an recorded the minutes of the meeting Mr T A Fergusnn moved the approval if the minutes MINUTES of the mee ing of March 15/71 as per copy which had been L, APPROVED sent to ea h Councillor. Carried. Mr Arnold Boese of Linden Contractors then met LINDEN CONTR with Counc 1 Mr T. A. Ferguson moved that Council agree to let Linden Contractors move to the M. D. of Starland No 47 for approximately one and one -half months. Carried Mr A�nold Boese thin left the meeting at 9 25 A.M. Mr R W. Brown reported that any anticipated ASSESSMENTS changes regarding the powerline and pipeline assessments by the government are now going to be dropped. He also discussed Bill #28 briefly stating that the Urban people BILL # 28 are going to the Legislature on April 1/71 and the Rural people will decide if they will march with them at the meeting on March 31171 Mr. C W Poole moved to accept and file t is report Carried Mr A. Mr C W. W Poole moved that Council CULVERTA purchase $5 000 00 worth of culverts from T P L Industries. Demers on the SE-A-34-25-4. Mr. G. A Lemay moved these be accepted and filed Carried A letter was then read from the Traffic Planning PERMIT -AUTO BODY Engineer of the Dept of Highways to Mr Albert Peterson SHOP regarding the proposed development of a auto body shop on the SIN-4-33-24-4, stating that the Dept of Highways had issued a permit under Highway Control Regulations authorizing the above noted developmen.. Mr. T. A. Ferguson moved this be accepted and filed Carried The Brief from the Advisory Board of St Maryps BRIEF -ST. W. Bauer moved this be accepted and filed Carried Mr R W Brown gave a brief report regarding the REPORT - UNIFARM Unifarm Hail Research Seminar held at Red Deer on HAIL RESEARCH March 8/71. Mr. A. H. Church moved to accept and file this report Carried Disc ssion was then held concerning overtime hours OVERTIME HOURS and Mr. T1 A Ferguson moved that nn action be taken at this time Carried A letter was then read from Pioneer Post Ltd. of PIONEER POST - Buck Lake, Alta advising of their 1971 price list on PRICE LIST various sizes of posts Mr G A Lemayrmved this be accepted and filed Carried Correspondence was then referred to from TIRE PRICES A. A M D s & Counties, stating that Crown Tire have increased the price of their Dayton Tires by 5% to 7 %, effective March 15/71. Carried A letter from Merlin Transport Ltd. was then referred to, stating they would like to supply us with the various types of road oil in 1971 and the prices are as follows Bunke QCQ Oil 0.169 per gal M C Cil 0 227 per gal. Carried The Asst Sec -Treas then read a note from HENRY DICK - Henry Dick advising Council that a culvert needs CULVERT replacing at the NW- 33- 30 -25 -4 (in driveway) which he claims was mentioned last year but nothing was done about it Mr S C Schmelke moved this be filed with Ted Paquet e Carried Mr John Dorn then reported that the school bus JOHN DORN REPORT had arrived and reported on other gobs which he had completed or had not completed at this time Mr S C Schmelke moved that Council purchase a hot water heater for the Carbon shop Carried Mr S. C Schmelke moved we snowplow in the field SNOWPLOWING for Mr. Ji Bates and Mr. Murray Brown, charging only one way arried Mr C W Poole moved that the decision regarding ROAD BANS the road bans be left to the Road Committee. Carried A note was referred to briefly from Mr John Prohl WIMBORNE - of Helm's G neral Store in Wimborne regarding water WATER SUPPLY supply for he hamlet of Wimborne, advising Council that Mr Prohl will meet with them April 12/71 Mr C W Poole moved this matter be tabled until that date Carried The As 't Sec -Treas then advised Council that CAPITAL EXPEND to date we qad spent $141,318.00 on Public Works equipment, 6,200 00 on Service Board equipment and $1,133 00 0 office equipment as far as Capital Expendi- tures are c ncerned. General discussion was then held concerning the R W HALLOS land owned ly Mr R W Hall with Mr. Brown suggesting LAND we possibly take it over under Surface Reclamation. Moved by S. C Schmelke that we send Mr Hall a registered letter to t e effect that if his land is not rented by 15 days froj the date of the letter, we will take it over by Surface 4eclamation Carried General discussion was then held concerning the DISEASE -RED NOSE disease "Re Nose47 which was brought up by Larry Edwards at the Annual Meeting Mr Peters stated that he had talked with Dr Stone and Dr Stone felt that we should write a letter to Dr. J G O'Donoghur or Dr E.E. Ballantyne Mr. Peters then read a letter from the Dept of Agriculture describing the disease and the different symptoms of it and where it affects the animal. The program was good and the noon meal was of the County of Mountain View February 1 - 5th, Lorne and I attended the Inservice training Session for dig Fieldmen which was very worthwhile The course content was of a very high calibre and the instructors were top notch Febr ary 10 - 12th - Johnston Hart, Tom Ferguson and I attended t e Provincial E.1 0 Conference in Calgary and found it informa i.ve and useful February 16th - our silage storage and feeding systems Field Day was held in the Swalwell, Linden, Acme area with over 100 p rons in attendance " "any favorable comments were received On 14arch 4th, Dan Peters and I attended the Unifarm Pollution eminar at the Riveara Hotel in Edmonton There were many qualified speakers who presented a very interesting day on Pollution The theme was "Agriculture, Cause or Victim" Both Dan & I were happy to attend this seminar as it fits .:_right in with our everyday work Je must all realize that each and every one of us can be polluters, but if we exercise care, we can get the fob of pra.ducing food of th best quality, at reasonable prices done without causing toT much pollution. % 1arc 10 - 12th - Provincial A S.B. Conference - quite well attended by Councillors and Board members from most parts of the Province Naybe the conference might have tried to cover too much ground without enough t.udience participation There were a large number of r solutions this year with insufficient time The 1080 Pait which was placed on the Ind- 14- 29 -26 -4 at the request of R E Wallace (renter), was moved on to the SW- 23 -29 -26 4 due to a disagreement by Hr A.C. Cormode, the actual owner of the h'1 -14. Other baits were inspected and baits in the Huxley area were well eaten 877 lead of cattle have been sprayed this year for the control of lice. I sp nt one day talking to the Farm Management school on Herbicides and weed control.
