The secretary then read the regulations from the OVERTIME
Alberta Labour Act, Section 4, which states that HOURS
"Employers shall pay employees wages not less than one
and one-half times the ordinary wages paid such employees
for all hours worked in excess of
(a) 12 hours in a day, or
(b) 1242 hours in a month
whichever is the greater
The secretary advised that he had been mistaken on
his interpretation of this Act and it had been clarified
by the foard of Industrial Relations, stating that any
hours o er 12 hours a day are also overtime hours and are
to be p id at the rate of one and one -half times The
Council agreed that the secretary should adjust the pay
of the dIersons involved, in the next pay period.
