May 25th, 1970
A com fined meeting of the Council and Agricultural
Servi a Board took place in the Council Chambers on
Monda , May 25th, 1970 at 9.30 A M.
All C uncillors were present with the exception of
A H hurch and G Lemay. Mr Art Bates and Mr Gordon
Park ere also present with J C Jeffery recording the
minut s
Mr. A W Bauer moved the adoption of the March 23, 1970
meeti a minutes. Carried.
Mr. G rdon Park then gave his report, copy of which is
attac ed Mr Tom Ferguson moved acceptance of Gordon
Park? report Carried
It was then noted that the amount paid to May 15th for
our grass seed policies has been$6,627.45. Mr. Art
Bates moved the acceptance of this report Carried.
Mr G G. King then read a letter regarding weed control
on in ustrial lands Gordon Park reported that there
were o real problems in our Municipal District only the
Oil C mpanies, but because of this letter the oil companies
have Deen informed,therefore will comply with this letter
T. Ferguson moved to file this letter Carried.
Mr G.G. King then read a letter from the Crop Protection
and Pest Control Branch of the Dept of Agriculture, Plant
and Industry Division which stated that the Council must
appoint an Inspector of Chemicals for our M D Mr
C W Poole moved that Gordon Park and Lorne Boese be
appoi 7 ted as Chemical Inspectors for this M D. Carried.
Mr Gordon Park then reported on a Municipal Agricultural
Emer envy Measures Committee with the following aims
The purpose of this annex is to describe the organization
and espon ;sililities of the Municipal Agricultural Emergency
Meas res Committee for Emergency Planning and Operations
1 In the event of a Nucl-ar War the Dept of Ag.
must be in close touch with Unit or Municipal Emergency
Govt Headquarters and be available for advice or to take
acti n where necessary on Agricultural matters
2. During peacetime there is an Agricultural Service
Board in each County and M D It is intended by the
Dept of Agriculture: that the A.S.B. be enlarged for
emer ency planning and operations to include the fieldnen
and practicing vetinarian
3 It is the policy of the Dept of Agriculture
that all District Agriculturists, members of the A.S.B.
and fig Fieldmen be trained as radiological defence
officers to assist as required in wartime operations

Board Field Day. Mr. R W Brown ,moved that the Agric
Field Day be August 5th, 1970 meeting; at 9.30 at the

It was then noted that the next Provincial Agricultural
Servi a Board Conference will be Larch 10th to 12th, 1971
as reported by Gordon King. Mr. A W Bauer moved to

Mr. K ng then read a letter from the Alberta Dept of
Agric ltural Program Development Division asking this

for A . Fieldmen Also attached to the letter a questionnaire
which was filled in by Council at the meeting. Mr T
Fergu on moved to accept this letter and file same and
send 'n the questionnaire. Carried
Mr. Gordon Park then reported there would be a Provincial
Weed rour Conference at Wetaskwin July 23, and 24th, 1970
Mr Gordon Park is to contact all A S B members a week
before and see whe will be able to attend
A letter was then read from Oliver Industrial Supply advising;
that there will be a demonstration of mowing equipment at
2 00 P M at the Cross Roans Motor Motel off #1 and #2
Highways, N E Calgary. There will be a buffet supper at
Trade Winds Motor Motel Three types of models will be
demo trated,t7 -c nailbird, the slope mower and the TK530
which is a 15 ft. pull type mower. Mr T Ferguson,
R.W Brown, C '9. Poole, S C Schmelke and Gordon Park will

Mr. Gordon Park then gave a report re the Kneehill Extension
Council. Copy attached. Mr Park then reported
that the next meeting of the Extension Council
is the 23rd of June being a separate meeting and the
minutes arising; from this meeting; will be circulated
to all Councillors and A S B Members. Mr C Poole
then suggested that a chairman for the Extension Council
be picked at their next meeting

Considerable discussion took place in respect to Council
Policy for 1970 Gravelling Work Mr Ferguson then GRAVEL
moved that each Councillor be authorized to have up to PROGP.141

as a truck driver
Deep holes east of Trochu have been patched
with cold mix but other places are too wet to be repaired

There was considerable further talk in regard to the
Proposed Preliminary Regional Plan.and the Draft
Proposal as received from the Calgary Regional Planning

regional plan is adopted by the Calgary Regional
Planning Commission for the whole area or adopted by

Cana ian Utilities be advised to cut off electric
Bowe service to the Municipal Well at Grainger

Mr, Ferguson stated that the Three Hills School
Division has received an offer of $400 00 for its
used school bus No 61 The School Division had
aske if the MI.D. might be interested in this unit.
