Conference - Calgary, Jan 20, 1970 i1V-1 E, 14 FORM 149-P SPECIAL MUNICIY L VLI AGRICULTURAL SERVICE BOARD M.D OF KNEEHILL # 48 Dec 1, 1969 Page 1 A regu ar meeting of the Agricultural Service Board of the M D Kneehill #48 was held in the Municipal Office on M �of nday, December 1, 1969 commencing at 9 30 A.M. The minutes of the combined meeting of Council and the A. S. Board held Sept 29th 69 were referred to as per copy mailed to each member. Mr. G. King advised that Council had made a correction in respect to the amount of money t be paid to Lorne Boese -- page 2 of minutes. The amount ad been corrected from $152.50 to $242.50 so as to b app. 2 of 3 weeks salary and 2 of tuition. Mr. Bates oved that the said minutes of Sept. 29, 1969 be approve as corrected Carried MINUTES Mr. Gordon Park gave each person present a copy ^f his AG. FIELDMAN report as g Fieldman and of the Provincial Conference REPORT which he h d attended at Peace River. (Copy with these minutes). He also stated that four resolutions had been passed at he conference dealing with 1. Pa en to farmers for storage of grain 2. That t e next annual A S Board conference should be held ir late winter or early spring with March preferred, 3 Box cai doors should be kept shut on all moving trains so as to avoid the spreading of weed seeds or other nuisance materiel 4 Point Out to Federal Minister of Agriculture that financ'al assistance is required for farmers Mr G rdon Park also advised that he was appointed Secretary- reasurer of the Ag. Fieldmen's Association Mr. P ole moved that the reports of Mr Gordon Park as referre to above be adopted. Carried. The meeting was advised that three Weed Essays had WEED been received and judges had placed them in the following ESSAYS order 1 Brian egli, Linden Prize 15.00 2 Arlene Ward, Acme 10 00 3. Gordon, Commissioner of the Livestock Branch brought us up to date on the progress of the warble Control Policies in the Protiince The detaskawin group are proceeding .good to date A panel on the handling of selective herbicides in a municipality - the general consensus of opinion was that private business is doing a good job and municipalities have no place in this business except for a few specialized chemicals There was a panel discussion on harnessing the team for Effective Agricultural Programming Charlie Cheshire, Head Branch Council - R. Zander, Reeve County of Parkland Dept. of Municipal Affairs - A It Isbister Fieldman - Norman .3tanley A good discussion on surface drainage and water control policies by Doug Harringto and Adolph Goettel J Pankratz spent some tilde on the new Can Farm accounting and the Farm Purchase Bd. Joe Gurba talked on the Agricultural Chemicals Act which will come into force later in the year. On Thursday, the Ag. Fieldman association held their meeting and the (,ouncilors, Board Members, and :secretaries met to discuss a variety of problems �' F
