Report to A 3 .
B and Council ieetin., Sept. 29, 1969
Annual Agricultural Fieldmans Day at Lethbridge was well attended and in
general a very successful two day affair Items of interest were sprinkler
irrigation, specialty crops, use of thickened sprays to minimize the hazard of
drift, helicopter spray demonstration and a hydraulic driven rotary Mowe_
on a motor grader for roadside mowing. x tour of the Lethbridge Research .station
was held the second day
r Spraying weeds, brush and toadflax during the past two and one half months
has taken up most of our time This has been a year which has been very good for
toadflax to grow There are a ;;neat deal of new patches showing up all over the
north and west areas of the District Farriers have, in general, done a fairly
good job of weed control but a great many crops were not sprayed due to weather
conditions. From these crops that were not sprayed there has been quite a growth
of weeds. more attention from all concerned will ae required for the control of
Canada and bow Thistle.
I was privileged to represent the Association of il'oerta Agricultural Fieldimrn
at the A I C Meeting in Saskatoon to look into setting up an Agricultural
Technologists Association. The purpose of this meeting was to have a coiruiian set of
ground rules for the whole of Canada rather than each province having their own
