B and Council �ieetin., Sept. 29, 1969 Annual Agricultural Fieldmans Day at Lethbridge was well attended and in general a very successful two day affair Items of interest were sprinkler irrigation, specialty crops, use of thickened sprays to minimize the hazard of drift, helicopter spray demonstration and a hydraulic driven rotary Mowe_ on a motor grader for roadside mowing. x tour of the Lethbridge Research .station was held the second day r Spraying weeds, brush and toadflax during the past two and one half months has taken up most of our time This has been a year which has been very good for toadflax to grow There are a ;;neat deal of new patches showing up all over the north and west areas of the District Farriers have, in general, done a fairly good job of weed control but a great many crops were not sprayed due to weather conditions. From these crops that were not sprayed there has been quite a growth of weeds. more attention from all concerned will ae required for the control of Canada and bow Thistle. I was privileged to represent the Association of il'oerta Agricultural Fieldimrn at the A I C Meeting in Saskatoon to look into setting up an Agricultural Technologists Association. The purpose of this meeting was to have a coiruiian set of ground rules for the whole of Canada rather than each province having their own tTe had a successful A. S B Tour here in our own area on Tuesday, August 12 with about 35 persons in 11 vehicles de assisted with Flower and Vegetable dhows at acme, Three Hills and Torrington vie have poured the concrete floor in the A. S. B. shop during the recent wet weather. Dan Peters and myself met with the Board of the Three Hills School Division regarding A. S. Le ay 7 (from 9 05 A M as noted later) Mr G G King, Sec. -Treas , was present and recorded the minutes. Mr D C Dau, of the Three Hills School Div., was also present throughout this meeting Mr Dau mentioned a minor error in the minutes of Sept page 2 - he was present at that meeting until the same time as Doug. Ha elton left Mr Poole moved approval of the minutes of the meeting of Sept $ i 9 as per copy mailed to each member, subject to the correcton as mentioned above by Mr. Dau Carried Mr Gelo Lemay came in to the meeting at this time. (9 05 AM ) Mr R W Brown advised that Mr Doug Hazelton, for Linden Contractors, wishes to get app. 1,000 cu yds. of crushed gravel from the M D stockpile at either Linden West or Me lis, Linden Contractors to replace same with an equal number of cu. yds. crushed gravel when next at the same location and without any price difference Mr Peters moved that this be approved Carried. Mr R W Brown, as Reeve, advised Mr Geo. Lemay that there is s me question as to Mr. Lemay4s right to remain a member of Couacil due to the number of regular meetings missed T e following were rotedfrom Mr. Lemay4s reply 1 Qualifications of at least one other councillor might also be quE stioned 2 Inquir d about which meetings are "regular" meetings 3 Was critical of total time spent at meetings,with too many man h urs wasted on repeat items on the agenda 4. Believ s there should be more time spent in drafting the budget setting rates, etc 5 Critic 1 of attendance at conventions and resulting expense ac ounts 6 Much t o much time allowed to delegations which meet with Council In reply to Mr Lemay, Reeve Brown made it clear that Council did not refer to anything on a "personal" basis, and that a resolution of Council had set the second Monday of each morith as "regular49 meeting dates. Other items referred to above were also discussed and explanations given, no other specific action was taken Mt. Lemay stated thai he does not intend to resign at this time. Brown reported that he had met with a repres- entative of Consumer Utilities re Linden Co -op natural gas GAS lines crossing road allowances in the Swalwell area Mr Brown LINES moved that the proposal be approved with all road crossings to be bored and with a minor change at Wes Gore's N- 8- 30 -24 -4 Carried. Mayor J. Stankievech and Ciuncillor Ed Adolf of the TROCHU Town of Tro hu met with Council to discuss this District's NUISANCE policy re n isance ground assistance and use. ROCK road in NW-10-31-21-4 was read - payment in full to be $36 AGREEMENT cash.
