The'Court of Revision of the M D of Kneehill No 48 held
its Hearings on Assessment appeals at the Municipal office, Three
Hills on Tuesday, April 29, 1969 commencinag at 9 00 A.m.
Council members of the Court of Revision present were,
Mr A H Church, Tor R W Brown, Pair Dune Peters, and
Mr S C �chmelke.
Mr JGeorge Park,Assessor, was present throudout the meeting
Mr G G, King and Mr. H J Hanson, each acted as Secretary for
part of t e meeting
0th r Council members attended as Committe members, namely
Mr. T� A Ferguson - throughout the meeting
Mr Cliff Poole - from 10:45 A.M. as noted later
Mr !Peters moved that Mr Brown act as Ch, -Armes of the Court
of Revision Carried
Assessment appeals were then considered and dealt with as
shown bet w:
1. NE- 0- 29 -24 -4 14r Peter Kanderka was not present. Mr Peters
mov d that there be no change in the land assessment of $1910.
Carried.
2 NW-22-29-24-4 Per Vernon Brost was not present. Mr. Schmelke
Moved that there be no change in the land assessment of $960
Carried.
3 Pt - 19- 30 -25 -4 - -(Acct No.2132) Parcel B. Plan 9347E.D.
Mr C B Penner was present. He claimed that he has started
to tear down one old residence a d that the old church building
is not in use Mr Park stated that some adjustment had been made
but stated that some use was still being made of the old church
building. Mr Church moved that the existing assessments be
con firmed, namely. -- old church - $1200., old shed - $30., old
sha k - $60., another old shack - $50 ; dwelling - $890 ; and
Zan $225 00 for a total of $2455 Carried
4, Pt NE- 20- 29 -26 -4 -(Acct No 1451A) - Big Y Ranch Ltd Mr. Don
Smith was present He stated that he had been raising pigs
but closed down that development in January /68 As at October
31/118, the hog buildings were leased to Swiftvs and were
strictly a feeder operation Mr Brown moved that there be no
change from the present assessments - Res. $1840 ; other impr
- $ §850 and land $680. for a total of $11,370 Carried
5 Pt E- 4- 31 -25 -4 -(Acct No 2961) - Mr Ronald B. Loewen was
present He stated that he keeps brooding sows on the 20
acres and had a gross income of over $4300. from this business
last year He also rents other land. Mr Brown moved that
the building assessment of $5860 be cancelled and that /the
lano assessment of $290 be confirmed Carried.

Pt-NE-9-30-24-4 (Acct No 1933B) - Mr. W.A Dick was present
The building now occupied as his dwelling was the former
Swa well school and auditorium Mr Dick stated that he does
Not have any electrical power and the furnace is not hooked
up, considerable damage was done by vandals prior to his
purchase Mr Park recommended that more depreciation and
obscolescencc be allowed
Councillor Mr Poole came into the meeting at this time.

acres of land be confirmed at $170.1 but that the building.

Toews was present Mr Toews advised that he planned to re-
moved some buildings but this had not been done; one ware -
hou a had been removed by B A Oil Co. Values of underground
to s, etc were also discussed Mr. Park agreed that adjust-
men is be made Mr. Toews then left the meeting
Mr Schmelke moved that the assessment of the four lots be
red ced from $100 to $40, and the other improvements reduced
fro $1630 to $350. Carried
8, Pt w -16 -31 -22-4 (East 79.5 acres) Mr George Reed was
present He stated that the residence has been rented part
time only and he asked for some reduction due to distance from
town, depreci.ation,etc fie also stated there are only 20
acres arable and there is no ent-y to some of this land. Mr
Reed left the meeting.
Mr Peters moved that the arable land be shown as 25 acres with
the total land assessment to be reduced from $1020 to $870
and with the improvement assessment to be reduced from $4780.

Mr. Park advised that the house is small but

claimed exemption on the buildings but Mr Park advised that
the residence is occupied by a renter who is not a farmer
Mr Peters moved that the assessments be confirmed at $4370
on the land and $2030 on the residence Carried.

SE-21-34-24-4 - Mr Cecil McArthur was present He stated that
the residence had been occupied from July 22/68 to Oct.23/68
but he had not received rent payments and he had been Y4stuck"
for the power and propane bills Mr. Peters moved that the

12. Mr Norman Koch was not present but his appeals against land
assessments were reviewed and dealt with as follows'
(a MW- 17- 33 -23 -4 - ?sir Schmelke moved that the assessment of
$3W on the land be confirmed Carried
(b NE- 20- 33 -23 -4 - Mr Peters moved that the assessment of
$3 40 on the land be confirmed. Carried
(c NW- 20- 33 -23 -4 - Mr. Church moved that the assessment of
$4 10. on the land be confirmed Carried.
(d SW- 28- 33 -23 -4 - Mr Brown moved that the assessment of
$1 60 on the land be confirmed Carried
13.A Wellhead on LSD 8- 33- 29 -21 -4 - Altana Exploration Co Ltd., -
no one present to represent the Company. - they claimed the
site had been abandoned but Mr Park stated that the wellhead
is still there. Mr hurch moved that the assessment of
$2 0. on the improvements be confirmed. Carried

Mr. D. Beck was present His letter of appeal was read and
discussed at length Mr. Beck then left the meeting Mr Peters
mov d that the assessment on the 16 acres of land be confirmed
at 13200. but that the assessment of the improvements be
red ced from $09i',,630 to $84, 840. Carried
LotE 19 to 24, Elk 4, Swalwell 5050 A.K. Mr. Harvey Elliott
was present Old church building is now used only as a
granary and he therefore asked for a depreciation reduction
Discussion followed, Mr Elliott then left the meeting.
Mr. Church moved that the land assessment be confirmed at
$60 but that the building assessment be reduced from $1700.
to $680. Carried
NE-10-30-25-4 - I,ir. Raymond Megli was not present. He had
appealed the assessment of the residence as he expected it to
be vacant, but Mr. Park stated that it is rented Mr Schmelke
moved that the assessment be confirmed at $1340. on the land
and $1320 on the improvements. Carried.
Pt E- 9- 32 -24 -4 - 39 6 acres - Mr Abe Hiebert was present
He claimed exemption from building assessments as a farmer,
and stated that he had a 1968 farm income of $2940. He gets
use of machinery by doing part time work for a neighbor He
also stated that he now has 49 calves and plans to increase the
number to 90 - 100. Discussion followed Mr. Hiebert then left
the meeting. 114 =r Peters moved that the assessment be confirmed
at $750 on the ,and and $3310 on the improvements. Carried.
19 Lot 71 Blk 5 - 3 Hills sub. 7816 F.0 - Mr Grassmick was not

was resent He stated that the residential portion of the

Reed then left the meeting. Mr Brown moved that the land assess-
ment be confirmed at $100 ; that the residence moved on be
confirmed at $2160 ; and that the assessment of other improve-
ment be- reduced from $1630 to $990 Carried.
