Those present were Mr. Duncan Peters Council Member (Chairman) Mr. C W Poole Council Member Mr Frank Hoppins Ratepayer Member Mr D I. Peters District Agriculturist Mr. G L Park Agricultural Fieldman Mr. L A Boese Asst Agricultural Fieldman Mr H. J Hanson Secretary to the Board '-Absent from the meeting was Mr. A. C Bates Ratepayer Member Mr Hoppins moved that the minutes of the combined meeting of the Agricultural Service Board and Council held on February 24th, 19 9 be adopted as circulated Carried Mr Park reported that he had placed the order for the sprayer boom. Neither he nor Lorne had been able to attend the pesticide course at Olds as outlined at previous meeting Mr. Lorne Boese had just returned to work this morning following his recent operatior The summer help of Ricky Kober & J B. Hart were both returning for the season, with Mr. Hart starting work this morning. Mr Ricky Kober stated that he would have to leave for three weeks the later part of July and lst part of August for a course regarding his univ rsity education, but that his father if needed will work in his place The parks at Keiver?s Lake and Tolman Bridge were discussed at some length. The matter of some fireplaces for Keiver's Lake and trees at Tolman were the main items It was suggested that the Kinsmen Club of Three Hills be contacted regarding the fireplaces at Keive 9s and some larger trees be purchased to be planted at Tolman. No m tions were made regarding the above. Mr Fark stated that with the new boom being purchased for the sprayer possibly the 12 h.p. motor will not be big en D h and he had obtained some prices of a larger 18 h p motor. With a clutch and electric starter they ranged from $654 44 to $706.40 with very little allowanco for trade in of our present motor Mr Foole moved that the Board recommend to Council that Mr. Park be tuthorized to purchase a larger motor for the sprayer if when the boom arrives the present motor is found to be toosmall. Carried. If the above is the case and it is found out before the auction sale of Municipal Equipment to be held on the 19th of April the present ot-or be offered for sale with a reserve bid, was suggested but no motion was made regarding this Mr 3ark presented a letter quoting a price of $231 00 net for a Bogbal e Fertilizer spreader to be used as a grass seeder on banks etc. as utlined at the previous meeting and suggested this matter be tablei until it is found out if a motor need be purchased and this was done without motion. ,Mr ark then presented his report as T =er copy with these mint..t6s• Mr Hoppins moved that the report be adopted Carried. Mr an Peters then brought up the matter of advertising the Agricult ral Service Board :• -)onsorod meetings, courses, etc. and brought he calendar published in the paper to the attention of the meeting This idea seemed to be a good one but it was suggested that pe;^ le should be encouraged to cut this out for reference and also other club meeting should be listed as well with the costs to mom I. vf_w/ a FORM 119 -P SPECIAL MU. Dune Peters moved that Mr. Park, Mr. Boese and Mr. Hart be authorized to attend the 1 day weed clinic to be held in Calga y on April 15th Motion Carried. The tenders for grass seed were then opened, these were for the supply of 3,000 lbs <of Certified No. 1 Crested Wheat Grass and ,000 lbs of Certified No 1 Creeping red Fescue FOB ThrA Hills. Poole moved that the tender of Hannas Seeds Lsmit.ed in the of $1,080.00 be accepted. Carried Pr Hoppins moved that Mr. Park obtain prices regarding chemicals to be referred a committee of Mr. Dune Peters, Mr C W Poole, Mr G L.Park and Mr Hanson before April 28th and their recommendation be referred to Council. Carried Mr. Dan Peters stated well development, one being hard to find and suggested be c ntacted to drill test water is hard to find He be m ntioned in his weekly may e in such a program. ze had some inquiries regarding water in the Hesketh area where water is that maybe Water Resources Branch holes in this area and others where further stated that this matter would column to see what interest there r Park outlined to the meeting the recommendations from the oil tests on the farms where the fertilizer trials are to be p aced this year and some details of the proposed program. r Park also reported that the overhead projector which had een purchased aided him and Mr. Dan Peters greatly during thei recent meetings. Fi ldmen in Lacombe with Don Talker regarding Soils & Fertilizers I �ttended the Alberta Horticultural Annual Meeting at Ol s on Friday afternoon and Saturday, March 14th & 15th At ended Spring Planning meeting for D Ats, Calgary Region, April 2nd & 3rd.
