Paving equipment - depending on the type of paving which Council decides to do this coming; year. If it is the emulsion tyre of paving, a spreader would be needed or, if it is an oil type surfacing, a distributor truck should be purchased ,° The matte of paving equipment was tabled without motion to be refer ed to a later meeting of Council. 6. Gravel trucks - it was suggested that four gravel trucks be purchase and trading three - the trades to be the 1965 International used by the patch crew and gravel trucks No. T -19 and 20, with the other gravel trucks, T -21 and 22 being kept, one tc be used with the patch crew and the other to be kept in the event that the Council would go ahead with the idea of a spreader truck for oil surface treatment It was further suggested that the new tank purchased from McLell nd Oil trucking Ltd be placed on the present water truck with the tank from it being placed in the yard for storage of Nakar oil to be used in patching of pavement 7 Other trucks - suggested a new one ton truck be pur- chased with cut trade to replace the Fargo one tort pow Used by the road crew and that this Fargo truck be used as a welder truch and the G14C be used to replace the old 1949 Ford in the culvert yard for loading culverts and other things It was re orted that the School Division are purchasing A new servi a van and that possibly that the one they are Using at th present time would be for sale Mr Churcl moved that the Shop Commitrtee be appointed to investigate the possibility of purchasing this service van from tht School Division and that they have authority to act Motion carried A matter cf the two travel alls used to transport the men to and from work was discussed and it was suggested that tenderh be called for two new 9 passenger vehicles with the present ones to be traded in Mr. Peters moved that tenders be called for as follows, 1 One nev Motor Patrol with specifications to be the same as those called for last year, but to be quoted as follows- Ca h, no trade OR less trade of Super 99 Austin Western Motor Grader, OR less trade of No.12 Caterpillar Motor Grade . 2. Motion carried A letter from the Treasury Branch, Three Hills regarding TREAS BR Municipal borrowings was read to Council This stated that INTEREST the lending interest rates have again been increased and the new rate now applicable to Municipal current borrowings is 7 %. This was ordered filed Mr Poole moved that a release of the Caveat Instrument CAVEAT go 2358 GD filed against the sw4 -8- 30-24-4, Aubrey Gore be sw- 8 -30 -24 ✓ now released. C. Bates Ratepayer member of the Agricultural Service Board Mr. Schme ke and Mr. Lemay were not able to attend the meeting due to road bonditions and Mr Art Bates was on vacation. Mr. Duncao Peters, Chairman of the Agricultural Service Board, acted as Cha rman of this portion of the meeting. Motion carried. The probl M of toad flax on the Three Hills Creek north and west of Thre Hills was discussed at some length. NO spraying was done on his location last year due to weather conditions,ete. and the Agri ultural Fieldman suggested that this possibly should receive prio ity as an A. S. B. project this summer. It was suggested th t an aerial treatment of this area should possibly be organized as it in very difficult to spray with a convential sprayer due o the r4 l< _'i terrain. Mr. Brown moved that the Agricultural Service board investigate the matter of treating this infestod area and what grants would be available to finance such a program. Motion carried. Also it w a suggested that, when the Service Board considers this proble , that a three -way cost sharing basis be considered, that being, /3 by the farmer, 1/3 by the A,S.B, and 113 Grant from the Departme t of Agriculture. The 23rd nnual Report of the Agricultural Service Board was re- viewed by th se present at the meeting. Mr. Hoppi s moved that this report be approved and that it be i published wi h the Fnanoial Statement of the Municipal District. Motion carri, d. Item # 1 of this questionnaire asked for a list of chemicals purchased in 1968 indicating the quantity and the price paid per gal # 2 asked the name of the company where purchased #3 - whether we plan to resell chemicals in 1969 #4 - should the Association remain in tht chemical business? #5 - if the price is competetive, would we purchase from the Association In 1969? Mr Gordon Park moved that the questionnaire be answered as follows. - that the information request. in Items #1 and 2 be supplied, #3 - that this District does not plan to resell chemicals in 1969. #4 - that this District feels that the Association should remain in the chemical business for Municipal purposes only #S - that th s District will be willing to purchase chemicals from the Assoctio in 1969 if the price and service is competetive Motion ca ried A letter from the Department of Agriculture was read to the meet - ing which outlined the fact that the chemical Tordon 221c is being discontinued and that Dow Chemical Co.Ltd., have a supply on hand which can be obtained at a special price The savings would be $6.00 per U.S gal on V/ Mr. Poole moved that an order be placed for 50 gallons of Tordon 22K from the Dep rtment of agriculture. Ed. & Council of M D of Kneehill Page 3 It was also suggested that Mr Stan Powers of the Department of Agriculture le asked to attend this meeting to give the DepartmentYs ` assistance The meeting was advised that it was the intention of Mr. Morley Douglas, the Regional District Agriculturist, to be in attendance at this meet ng to speak to the Council and Service Board today, but That he was unable to make it at this time. Each member of the Council and Service Board were given a photo- copy of the results of the 1968 seed drill survey and also the results of the fertilizer trials carried out in this District last year. These were discussed in detail and the seed drill survey indicated th t there was continued improvement regarding the class of seed that was b";ng used in this area over the past few years. Mr Peters moved that Mr Gordon Park be authorized to investigate regarding an overhead projector, to get prices and also inquire from the School Division as to their recommendations as to kinds,ete. Mr. Park stated that last year, the spraying program was ield up considerably due to the fact that the wind situation ca sed drift and there were many days they were unable to spray with t eir present equipment. Mr Gordoi Park also suggested that possibly a rotary spreader to mount on he three point hitch should be purchased to be used for seeding stee :banks and so on.
