The minutes of the Combined meeting of the Agricultural Service
Board and the Municipal Council held September 23rd, 196$ were reviewed.
Mr. Poole moved that these minutes be approved as per copy mailed to
each member Carried.
Mr. Go tnsulated don Park reported that the Agricultural Service Board shop
has now be ^n but is not yet painted
Mr. Go don Park, Mr. C.W Poole and Mr. H J Hanson gave verbal
reports of thD conference attends d in Olds Mr. Park had attended the
entire confer nce and Mr. Poole and Mr. Hanson were there for the Council-
lors meeting Dn the Thursday afternron Mr. Lorne Boese had also attended
part of the c reference. Items mentioned were Service Board budgets,
County Agricu tural Committees, Grant Applications, Weed Control on
Railway right-of-way and warble control Mr. Park also reported that
Mr. R.W Browa reeve and vice - president of the A A.M.D had also addressed
the conferencp and gave a very good talk.
Mr Ho6ins moved that the above reports be adopted. Carried
Mr. Park reported that the service board had received eight
entries in th weed essay contest and these had been judged by Mr Dan
Peters and hi self, with the following results
First - Wendy Thurn of Beiseker
Second - Arlene Ward of Acme
Third - Courtney Ohlhauser of Carbon
Other ntrics were received from Douglas Giesbrecht, Dan Gordon
Billy Craig Edwards, Barbara Code and Harvey Schindel.
Mr. Ba es moved that the Board recommend that Council pay the
,,• money o $15.00, X10,00 and $5.00 to the above winners as they
have in the p st Carried.
Mr Park reported that Mr. Lorne Boese has been advised that he
requires an operation on his chest and will be off work for approximately
two weeks. He is presently wai *ng for a hospital bed in Calgary
Mr Park reported that he has received requests for 6 - 10 -80
baits for this year. These would be set where they meet all the
requirements of the regulations, and as it appears that a whole horse
would not be needed he will check with other areas with the possibility
of sharing a horse
Fertilizer plots for 1969 were discussed by the Board It was
suggested that the same three locations be used in 1969 as in 1968 and
that they be expanded. It was noted that the facilities at these
locations are very handy for harvesting and determining the results of
the tests
Mr. H ppins moved that the fertilizer plots be carried out in
1969 at the same locations they were in 1968. Carried

The results of the 1968 teats were read to the Board for the plots
on the farms of Bill Ir ing and Ralph Brown, and are on file with the
Agricultural F eldman. The plot on the Currie farm had to be harvested
on a square y—d basis ^ most of it had been put for silage and the
results have n t been received from Edmonton.
Mr Park asked the Board for suggestions for topics to be discussed
at the Regional Service Board Conference to be held in High River early
in January, 1969 One topic suggested was the role of the Ser Ice Board
on Municipal Planning Com=missions
It was reported that a Toad Flax ^oblem exists on the lands
adjacent to the Three Hills Creek In the north part of the District
This area is not easily assessable with sprayers and thus might have to
be sprayed from the air which again would require approval of the
Provincial authorities What assistance would be available to the farmers
concerned was discussed and it was noted that the chemical could be
supp=ied thru he Service Board agreement n a three way cost sharing
ti,C�_sis Mr Pa k is to investigate this problem further and report to a

Next melting to be a joint meeting with the Council in January,
