A14Councillors except Mr. Cliff Poole, Div 2, were pres nt Eacl Councillor present was given a copy of the Brief to De presented later this morning to the Provincial Cabinet G mmittee - copy attached Mr. Peters moved approval 3f the Brief Carried Mr R Brown made brief reference to a Brief which the Acme Chamber of Commerce is to present to the Cabinet Committeejrequesting paving of the Beiseker -Acme road Mr G King reported that Mr Doug Hazelton of Linden Contractors had phoned and advised that the Company which owns the bull crusher rented by them is not willing to forego any rental if that machine is left idle while other crushing is done at the Russell Andrews pit. Con- siderable discussion followed in regard to the necessity of gettinji the crushing done at Andrews?. Mr. Church moved that Linden Contractors be re- quired to do the crushing at the Russell Andrews pit in SE-1-31-23-4 immediately following completion of the work at tie Garson pit; that Council authorize paying 1/2 the r nt of the bull crusher for one week while it is not wo king due to this (estimate $500.), and that Mr R Br wn have authority to arrange this Carried Mr Ferguson moved that 20,000 cu.yds of crushing with the ull crusher be authorized at the Linden west pit in SW 30- 30 -25 -4 on condition that the work at the R. Andrew pit be first done; otherwise that no work be done at L nden west this Fall Carried. The Road Committee reported on gravel testing done recently, as follows 1. Loosmore in NE- 1- 31 -24 -4 - no gravel located. 2. Ferguson in NW -36 -30 -23-4 - no gravel of value 3 leo. Andrews in NE- 35- 30 -23 -4 - no gravel located. 4 owen's - in Sec 16- 29 -21 -4 - one location showed a good supply of coarse sand, some further testing is required for other locations. Mr Schmelke moved that testing for gravel at Lowen?s in NW-10-'99-21-4 be done soon with a seismic drill or by some other method and, if the gravel is not good, that the road committee arrange to have gravel taken from the river at laterts Carried V BRIEF Linden Contractors work p report of gravel testing The Sec -Treas advised that the Road Grant for the Road Pope Leas road should be sufficient to cover an additional Grants 200 cu.ydE per mile of gravel - and this is required Mr Peters mo ed that this be approved Carried The Sec - Treas. to Mr Peter Baerg as Portion n rth of the actual area was only advised Council that the land rented per by -law No. 598 referred to the road diversion in N2- 9- 30 -24 -4. A letter from Mr. C Ferguson, Solzcito�r,Kwas read ; in respect to an old welfare account owing Nr F. Ranostaj caveat had been filed agziinst SIPd- 23- 31 -24 -4. Mr Peters moved that the Caveat be released if and when the Estate pays this District $230 40, this being the amount ow ng to this District without interest Carried. Mr T Ferguson moved that this District now apply for $3,13 Recreation Grant under Pt-3 of the Department of Youth �r_ogram Carried Mr Sc melke reported that the work at the E Moran slough is in now completed and the road straightened The ?Municipal District had agreed to pay $2'75 (minutes of July 256 , Page 5) and cancel the old diversion The grade is ow very good Mr E. Moran has asked for an increase the M D. share Discussion followed. Mr Brown moved that this District now pay E. Moran $275 00 as previously moved, and cancel the old diversion, and also that a letter of commendation be sent to Wik Bros for the good work done there Carried. E.Noran job Mr Campbell asked if Council would authorize him getting a backhoe from Trochu to put in shade trees trees - at the Tolman Park Mr Ferguson moved that Mr Campbell Tolman# be authorized to get a backhoe from Trochu and work with Park Gordon Pa k, Agricultural Fieldman, in arranging for the above Carried The ne d for extra trucks for work at this time extra was discussed but no action was taken. trucks Mr. Du c Peters reported that the Charleton job is now co plete, also the Ray Knight north job. It was reported that there have been some complaints gravel re the gravel work, also long coffee breaks and early crew quitting Mr Ferguson moved that the employee - complaints committee see Mr. Joe Dobler, gravel foreman, re this. Carried Mr Schmelke moved that the next meeting of Council be on Tuesday, November 12th at 9 00 A M Carried.
