HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-08-20 Council Minutesno lap, FORM 149-P SPECIAL i I L u Pu SHOP AND SAFETY COMMITTEE AUGUST 20/68 A meeting of the shop and safety committee was held the afternoon of Tuesday ,f ugust 20th, 1968. Presen were Councillors Duncan Peters and C W. Poole. Other members, T.C. Paquette, J. Dobler, A R Sommerville and H.J. Hanson, Secretary. Mr. Pa Patterson of Westeel -Rosce Ltd. met with the committee to discuss helving for the parts department of the new repair shop. The amount equired was suggested as three sections 12ft long, 5 ft. high and 24 inches deep Mr. Patterson showed the committee a sample of frame mallerial and shelves which can be made up in almost any sizes and could be used for many other uses including a rack to hold drums of oils and greases T•„ approximate cost of the materials including the shelvep would be $180.00 for the parts department The ab ve materials is made up in bundles, the cost of 1 -14P material per bundle s $29.00 and 311material $51 00 per bundle, including bolts, nuts, brace: etc. An or4 r was placed which included extra material for making up a rack for Teases and oils and some tables etc. also a special cutter for cutting the material was ordered which cost $35.00. The matter of telephones was discussed and the committee decided to order two extensions from the present shop, one for the office and the other jil the parts room Also an extension to be ordered for the Agricultural Service Board shop from the office number of the Agricultural Fieldman The committee was advised that Mr. Norman Pennock of Highway Motors had a press and rivr:,ing machine for sale, the price of $400.00 for the press and $110.00 for the riveting machine or both for $500.00 was quoted The committee inspected both these articles and no decision was made but will bring the matter before Council at their next meeting A repo t was made to the committee that McFarlane Go -dacre Motors of Red Deer�had a 1961 Dodge 700 series, 5 speed transmission, 2 speed axle, motor and rubber good, with 1750 gallon water tank, spray bar, pump and PT for sale at a price of $2,350 complete or approximately ;,500. for PT and attachments The colamittee stated they were not interested in the above unit. The ma ter of selling the bunk cars etc was disussed. Mr Poole did not hav b his report of the condition of the ones at Carbon but he felt that m st of them could be sold as units. It was suggested that the ones ex ept the cook car maybe should be dismantled and the saleable items advertised for sale, as the ones at Three Hills are in very poor condition This matter was tablet: for now with a decision to be made at a later ate Two caWets will have to be made to place the sinks on in the bath room apd coffee room at the new shop Mr Paquette was instru ted to have the 3e made The pa titions for the second floor of the parts section of the new shop wa5 discussed but no decision made as there is no immediate rush to hava this portion completed It wa completed at any tim The c A bre of the com noted that if the weather remained wet the hoist should be is week and then things could be moved from the old shop ttee then made an inspection of the shop down of the costs of the new shop was given to each member ttee as per the attached H-J Hanson :secretary - 1�kl-ll SIIOP COSTS as at.
