George Park - Edmonton meeting Calgary meeting Mr. George Park advised that Assessment appeals have been received from 20 ratepayers on a total of 42 parcels Mr Poole moved that the Court of Revision meet on April Assessment 22nd and 23rd, commencing at 9 00 A M each day to deal with appeals the Assessment appeals, and that the two Councillors who C. of R are not Members of the C of R attend as Committee Members Apr 22 & Carried 23 Mr Pa k also gave information regarding assessment values of t e Councillors' buildings in this M.D Total Assessment for the mai residence for all 7 councillors was $20,190 re Councill for an aver ge of $2,$$0 Total assessment for all -ors permanent b ildings on all lands owned by the 7 Councillors was $40,690 for an average of $5,810. General discussion followed regarding the effect upon taxation, number of farm units with buildings, effect on the School Foun ation Program,etc Mr Park advised that the Business Tax of this District Bus Tax X should be r viewed and perhaps revised. Mr Church moved that all Coun- cillors an the Sec - Treas. be delegates to the meeting of April 4, and that the information regarding culverts be filed arried The SEC - Treas read a brief report of the hearing of the Proi Planning Board in respect to a sub - division in portion SW- 6- 32 -23 -4 as applied for by the Prairie Bible Institute Title to property within the Town of Three Hillr will be ':ept separate from property within the Munici al District Decision in regard to the pro- posed service road will be sent to us by mail later. Mr Poole asked if any report has been completed re draining sloughs from his land in NW -5 and NE- 6- 29 -23 -4 and taking water to the south. Mr Adams replied that this study is not completed 2 Ber eth drainage ,channel in NW- 22- 32 -26 -4 - Mr. Adams will check again and give a final report regarding the levels He will also contact Water Resources, Edmonton in respect to ome form which they may require In regard to this projec . 3 Ohl auser Dam - NW -2$- and SW- 33- 29 -23 -4 - the gate could be opened and drain out all the water in the hope of getting rid of the murky and silty condition There is no guarantee this would be successfull There would first have to be definite assurance that no one downstream would object Some repairs are also required to the dam and Mr Adams will check these matters 4 Dan, in 5E- 24- 29 -25 -4 - Hanson - May need improvements within a f w years but these can only be made if a satisfact- ory agreem nt is signed 5 Pr posed dams for the Three Hills Creek- a feasibility report has been ~prepared. Mr Adams believes that the dam in SE-;7-31-24-4 will best meet the needs if a good overflow c n be provided A letter is to be written to Water Reso rces for any information it has on file. A letter from Jim Bishop Jr was read in which he J Bishop inquired about summer work. It was noted that he is only Jr.- 16 years off age Mr Poole moved that Jim Bishop Jr be appl.for advised that Council considers that he is too young for work any regular employement with this District. Carried. Appli.dations for work as received from Royal Ruggles and Kenneth Kraft were read Mr Peters moved that these be filed until later in the season. Carried. Mr Don Dau left the meeting at this time - 5 25 p.m Mr. Ted Paquette thanked Council for being chosen as one of tholse who made the trip to the Caterpillar factories in Peoria, Ill. as guests of that Company and its Agents Mr. Schmel e had been unable to go so the representatives from this District were Mr T.A Ferguson and Mr. Paquette. Mr Ferguson also thanked Council and both stated that they had a wonderful time Mr Ralph Brown had also attended as a Member of the Provincial Executive of the A A M D The S c. -Treas advised Council that Mr Charles Dutton had phoned at noon in respect to Rural Fire Protection in the Churchill area Twenty people of that area had attended a meeting at Churchill School last week and discussed rural fire protection and whether they wished to be taxed as a part of the proposed Linden - Carbon areas, or to be taxed separately, Fire protection would have to be provided through agreement with the City of Drumheller in either case Mr Dutton and Mr Don Herman had given that meeting i.nfnrmatio on recent committee discussions The vote was 16 to in favor of being taxed as a part of the Linden - Carbon are Thero is no definite promise that Drumheller will buy a additional fire truck as it is having some dispute nol with the L I D over fire protection Mr B be provide boundaries owned by a area Pre for each f within the Mr. Peters - Carried ,own suggested that free fire protection services on lands within one -half mile of the outside of a fire protection area where such lands are person who is taxed for other lands within the ent policy is to charge $25 00 in such cases re call. Gor Mr S W AGRICU&TURAL SERVICE BOARD MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL PAGE 1 ar meeting of the Agricultural Service Board was held in 1 Office, Three Hills on the afternoon of February 27, ing at 1.30 p m ,esent throughout this meeting were an Peters Council Member & Chairman Poole Council Member Bates Ratepayer Member k Hoppins Ratepayer Member on Park Agricultural Fieldman Pett District Agriculturist Mr. H J Hanson and Mr G.G King were each present for part of this meeting and recorded minutes. Mr. Dund Peters welcomed the two new ratepayer members, Mr Bates and Mr. Hopp ns as members of the Board The minutes of the last regular meeting held December 18, 1967, were read by Mr Hanson, as Secretary to the Board, Mr Poole moved that these minutes be approved. Motion carried. A letter from the Department of Agriculture Veterinary Services regarding the resolution passed by our Board and the Regional Conference in connection with veterinary Inspections at auction marts, etc. was read to the B and Correspo dente from the Alberta Department of Agriculture, Program Development Division, was read to the Board. This referred to the Govern- ment representative to the Agriculture Service Board would be the Dis- trict Agriculturist serving our area or his alternate. A further letter from the Alberta Department of Agriculture, Program Development Division, was read to the Board This referred to the grant structure for service boards and was in answer to the other reso npas ed by the board and the regional conference. Mr, Park and Mr. Hanson further advised that they had been inter- viewed by a representative from the Veterinary Services Division of the Department of Agriculture regarding the resolution presented in connection with inspection services at auction marts.
