HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-01-19 Council Minutesto EW The was recon Friday, J Councillo COUNCIL MEETING January 19th, 1968 (conted from Jan. 15th /6$) Page 20 ouncil meeting that had adjourned from Jan.15th /6$ ened at the Municipal office, Three Hills on n 19th, 1968, commencing at 9 00 A M All s were again present Mr G G King, Sec. -Treas was present throughout most of the meeting and also Mr. H J Hanson was present throughout the meeting and recorded the minutes Mr C Dau, representative of the Three Hills School D.Dau Division, was present for most of this meeting This meeting was called mainly to deal with tenders ,/ for purch se of new tracks and equipment which had been called fo previously. Mr. ordon King, Sec -Treas then reported on his Sales investiga ions regarding Sales Tax which would be applicable ` Tax on equlpm nt being traded He stated that whereby we pur- chase equ pment sales tax exempt within the past five years and this quipment was now being traded, itwould be subject t Sales Tax on a depreciated figure Mr. Dunc Peters moved that in considering truck tenders, A TRUCKS Council purchase two new gravel trucks without trade, and two new units trading in No.T17 and T18. Motion carried Council then were to consider truck bids and the TRUCK following dealers were present while the tenders were opened BIDS Mr. Cliff Bristow of Bristow Motors Ltd. Three Hills and Mr Gordon Long of Long's Auto Sales, Ltd: Three Hills Also following the opening of the tenders, Mr L.G. Howe of H T Howe & Sons Ltd came into the meeting Also present before the bids were opened were Mr T C Paquette, Public Works Superintendent, Mr Allen Koch, Grade Foreman, and Mr. Joe Dobler, gravel foreman. Mr Frown moved that the matter of purchasing a new track track tractor front end loader be now tabled and that tractor el-,further c nsideration be given when more details of the front end 1968 budg t is known Motion carried loader - tabled Fuel tenders were now opened and considered by Council, this bein for fuel both in bulk direct from the Company FUEL TENDER concerned and also for gas from the pumps into our trucks from local Agents. Mr. Peters moved that the fuel tender be awarded to Texaco Ca ada Limited as their price was considered the lowest to der, this being 30.1¢ for No.2 gas and 15 5¢ for diesel fu 1 Motion carried Mr oole moved that the tenders of Wright Motors Ltd. of Carbon of 37 5¢ per gallon for No.2 gas and 42 5¢ Per gallon fo No 1 gas, and Bristow Motors Ltd. of Three Hills at a pric of 41.5¢ for No 1 gas and 36 5¢ for No.2 gas be accept id Motion carried. Some employees had asked about receiving a partial pay of wages in the middle of the month. S Schmelke moved that there be no change in the schedule of payment of wages Carried There fol owed some discussion regarding engineering, grade sta es,etc but this was tabled until Spring. Mr. Halph Brown and Mr Gordon King then gave a verbal report of their meetings with the Village of Carbon an the Village of Linden regarding Rural Fire Protectiom in each of these areas In e ch case the Village Councils wished to make further s udy as to costs,, locations,etc for buildings to house ural fire trucks It was further decided by Council t at should a Axxxxx decision be received from these Vil ages prior to January 29th, a Council meeting be called on that date to discuss the matter further.
