recorded th minutes except for a portion dealing with the
general acc unts and paysheets as noted in these minutes

Mr D Dau, representative of the Three Hills School
Division, was present throughout the meeting and Mr. Tnm
Ferguson, C uncillor elect for Div 5, was alsm present for
mist of the meeting as an observer
Mr. Ch rch moved approval to the minutes of the meeting tiINUTES
of Nov. 27/ 7 as per copy which had been mailed to each

Mr. C. P. Campbell thanked the Council and office staff C.C.
for flowers which had been sent to him while he had been (CAMPBELL
a patient ill the hospital recently. He now is feeling much
better.
Mr Doug Hazelton of Linden Contractors met with the
Council briefly, and stated that they would be ready to
start graveL crushing work in this M D right after Christ-
mas. It was again agreed that they start work at the Garson
gravel pit 'n SW- 28- 30 -21 -4 It was also agreed that the
gravel be hauled direct from the belt with M.D. trucks and
stockpiled at a location to be chosen near John WattQs
This will be approximately a four mile haul It was also
agreed that the large rocks (rejects) be put in a separate
pile with t e suggestion that some could be used for rip -
rapping cul erts,etc.
Mr Do g Hazelton then left the meeting.
The Financial Statement for the month ending Nov 30,
1967, was discussed as per copy with these minutes This
showed a net balance at the end of the month of $50,394.56,
but with loans owing at the end of the month of $1681000.00.
Mr Peters moved the adoption of the Financial State-
ment Carried.
Mr G King, Secretary- Treasurer, gave Council a re-
port regarding the 1967 Recreation grants and related
matters Payment of $700.00 has not been made to the
Village of Linden nor has the $50 00 been paid to the
Churchill area. Each had been sent a notice of the money
available with a request for a report of their 1966
activities i They had also been sent a reminder by letter
Aug.5th /67. Further to that, the matter had been discussed
with the Mayor of Linden on the evening of Nov 29th. A
Phone call just received from Mayor Cyril Toews of Linden
stated that they had spent the following amounts on re-
creation In 1966 - maintenance of skating rink _ 122 82,
Village Library - $250 00, Playground equipment 25.00,
for a tote of $397 82 In 1967, they had spent $142.15

Mr Brown moved that the Recreation money voted for

Council further discussed the amount that should
be awarded to Mr Albert Johnson in respect to the
damages and impounding fees Mr Loosmore moved that
the recommendation of the committee be increased by
$25 00 and that Council now authorize payment of a total
of $60.00 t Mr Albert Johnson for damages and costs of
impounding the steer at the Wm Peters pound Carried
A lett r of December 4th/67 was read to Council from
Mr. John Be kman of Trochu in which he offerred a price
of $300 00 or the property in the NW- 14- 33 -23 -4 known
as the Raff 1 place on condition that he be allowed to
move or bu.i d a house on that property The Sec - Treas.
advised that he had discussed this with Mr. Beekman.
The property referred to comprises 4.25 acres and Mr
Beekman had stated that he wished to tear down the old
house now on the property and move on another house. He
had also ak ed about road improvements as he has a large
family and here would be need for school bus daily

They had suggested that the Provincial Fire
Commissioner would be able to loan a fire truck for the
Trochu area for the time that its truck is being repaired.
The Fire Chief at Trochu had been contacted and agreed
with the pr cedure and a letter has been sent to the
Provincial Fire Commissioner in this regard If arrange-
ments can be completed, then the matter will be proceeded
with. Mr L osmore moved that this report be accepted and

Considerable discussion then followed in regard to
proposed rural fire protection in other areas with special
reference first to the Linden -Acme area Mr Brown and
others refe red to the possibility of a broader plan of
coverage by having one fire truck located at Linden and
another at arbon and a uniform rate across the south part
of the Muni ipality for Itural Fire Protection including
the area ad'acent to Drumheller which will be served through
agreement w th the City of Drumheller Mr Poole stated
that he had made a general survey in his division in respect
to rural fire protection and had found approximately 2 to 1
in favor Fhe Torrington- Wimborne area was also discussed
but Mr Sch elke stated that he felt it should not be
proceeded w th in that area as there has been no request
for the service It was noted that the Village of Acme
had replied that it was not in favor of participating in
rural fire protection area with the fire truck at Linden
No petitions for nor against had been received from the
farmers of the general Acme area.
Mr Peters moved that a committee of Mr Brown, Mr.
Poole, Mr Church and G. King be named to meet with the
Councils of the Villages of Carbon and Linden in respect
to rural fre protection and that they then bring in a
report and ' a proposal. Carried

Bridge Branch was read to Council in regard to the 1968 CULVERTS
Bridge requ sts of this District. The following is a

Bridge is in fair condition and safe for local traffic

is in poor condition and should be removed. It was agreed
that this te checked in detail before Spring with alternate
routes to te considered It was also pointed out that
further si ns are needed for the traffic coming from the
south. Ada ning signs for the bridge should also be posted.

Bridge is in fair condition but some repairs should be
