M D OF KNEEHILL No 48
A meeting of
Muni ipal District of
Offi e the afternoon
P M
the Shop and Safety
Kneehill No 48 was
of October 3rd, 1967
October 3rd, 1967
Committee of the
held in the Municipal
commencing at 1 30
Members present were- Mr Duncan Peters, Mr C W Poole
Mr C Paquette, Mr. Joseph Dobler, Mr A R Sommerville and
Mr J Hansop, Secretary to the Committee
A plan which had been drawn up for the newly acquired
shop and storage yard was studied and discussed at some length.
Some discussion regarding a service road took place and the
committee felt that this should be provided for but not built
at the present time Rather that two approaches be built onto
the main road at the south end, one at the west side and the
other at the east. Also the south and east sides be levelled
and gravelled so that our machines could easily move about the
yard and to and from the approaches on the south and also the
north east entrance
Also discussion took place regarding if extra storage
for machines should be provided or whether a repair shop should
be tuilt instead Thus our present shop would be used for
storage and the metal building be also used It was also
suggested that this metal building be not moved at present but
be used at its present location without being insulated
Mr Poole moved that the committee recommend that
Council consider building a new repair shop instead of providing
extra storage space at present and that a committee similar to
that which was responsible for construction of the office be
app inted Motion Carried
Further to the above motion if was felt that this
committee should look at other repair shops for ideas before
a final plan is drawn up, hire a local contractor on a cost
plus basis similar to that which was done for the office and
also construction under winter works be considered
Mr Peters moved that this committee recommend to Council
tha they have the shop at Acme raised by the Municipal crews
thi winter and then it be insulated, also that the shop at
Wim orne be insulated Motion Carried.
Mr Gordon Park, Agricultural Fieldman, met with the
committee and discussed a storage shed for chemicals It was
noted that for safety reasons chemicals should be stored in a
separate building away from where men will be working and also
tha it should be heated
Mr Poole moved that this committee recommend that
Co cil authorize the construction of a storage shed for chemicals
and that Mr Park bring in recommended sizes, type of building
etc Motion Carried
Mr Peters moved that this committee recommend that
Council authorize that the crews clean out the fence lines
on the new yard with the land on each of the west, north and
ea l sides be cultivated with trees to be planted next year.
