SUPPLIES LTD SHOP AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING M D OF KNEEHILL No 48 A meeting of Muni ipal District of Offi e the afternoon P M the Shop and Safety Kneehill No 48 was of October 3rd, 1967 October 3rd, 1967 Committee of the held in the Municipal commencing at 1 30 Members present were- Mr Duncan Peters, Mr C W Poole Mr C Paquette, Mr. Joseph Dobler, Mr A R Sommerville and Mr J Hansop, Secretary to the Committee A plan which had been drawn up for the newly acquired shop and storage yard was studied and discussed at some length. Some discussion regarding a service road took place and the committee felt that this should be provided for but not built at the present time Rather that two approaches be built onto the main road at the south end, one at the west side and the other at the east. Also the south and east sides be levelled and gravelled so that our machines could easily move about the yard and to and from the approaches on the south and also the north east entrance Also discussion took place regarding if extra storage for machines should be provided or whether a repair shop should be tuilt instead Thus our present shop would be used for storage and the metal building be also used It was also suggested that this metal building be not moved at present but be used at its present location without being insulated Mr Poole moved that the committee recommend that Council consider building a new repair shop instead of providing extra storage space at present and that a committee similar to that which was responsible for construction of the office be app inted Motion Carried Further to the above motion if was felt that this committee should look at other repair shops for ideas before a final plan is drawn up, hire a local contractor on a cost plus basis similar to that which was done for the office and also construction under winter works be considered Mr Peters moved that this committee recommend to Council tha they have the shop at Acme raised by the Municipal crews thi winter and then it be insulated, also that the shop at Wim orne be insulated Motion Carried. Mr Gordon Park, Agricultural Fieldman, met with the committee and discussed a storage shed for chemicals It was noted that for safety reasons chemicals should be stored in a separate building away from where men will be working and also tha it should be heated Mr Poole moved that this committee recommend that Co cil authorize the construction of a storage shed for chemicals and that Mr Park bring in recommended sizes, type of building etc Motion Carried Mr Peters moved that this committee recommend that Council authorize that the crews clean out the fence lines on the new yard with the land on each of the west, north and ea l sides be cultivated with trees to be planted next year. Motion Carried See Page 2 t 0 I °Z lr L A FORM 1b9 -P SPECIAL MUNICIP SUPPLIES LTD SHOP AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING M D OF KNEEHILL No. 4$ October 3rd, 1967 Page 2 Mr Sommerville reported that the heater in the Wim orne shop was not working and Mr Paquette was instructed to dontact J & B Plumbing, Trochu who installed the heater and have them service it and get it working. Mr. Sommerville also stated that this year he had spent considerable more time out with the road crew doing repair work and suggested that maybe a new service vehicle similar to the one of the School Division should be considered for next year. Items of safety were reviewed as follows Fire extinguishers were in order, but some cartridges werE to be ordered Shop ventilation system was now working satisfactory More insulation to be placed in the attic at the shop Extra hard hats were ordered and on hand Other suppliep,- blankets, splints, stretchers etc werd in order. Mr Poole suggested that the repairs to the shop flo r at Carbon be tabled for the time being prof matt Pool Carl Mr Paquette reported that he now had Mr Alex m working but could still use another man An inquiry had been made regarding the sale of the .e fridge which was purchased and not used This was to be referred to Council for a decision and Mr. was to inquire from Mr Allen Koch if the f. -6idge at was working Mr. Dobler moved that the meeting do now adjourn.
