HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-02-25 Council Minutes`a w N IN FORM SHOP ID SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING February 25th, 1967 MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL No.48 A meeting of the Shop and Safety Committee of the Municipal District of Kneehill No-48 was held in the Municipal office, on Saturday morning, Feb 25, 1967 commencing at 9.00 A.M. Members present were Councillors Peters and Poole, Foremen - T C Paquette, Joe Dobler & Allen Koch, Mechanic A R Sommerville. The Comnittee then discussed buildings for storage and a phone call was placed to Wilson Arch Buildings Ltd Calgary re- garding prices for a quonset type building. They advised that these buildings could be built in any width and length and would supply prices for various sizes by Monday, for reference to Council. They further stated that, if this building was to be insulated in the future, the design could be such that it could be dona at less cost in the future. The Comnittee also recommended that the metal shop at Three Hills be mov d to the yard west of the railway and insulated during the simmer; Also that the metal shop at Wimborne be insulated. Mr C1 ff Collins then intervewed the Committee and presented a decal whi h Linden Contractors use on their vehicles Mr Collins quo ed a price of $3.00 each in quantities of 60 or more He agreed t have a sample for Council to look at on Monday, February 27-,h The spare International Motor which is on hand and needs to be reconditioned was discussed The cost of reconditioning was estimated to be approxi~n..,ately $200.00 and this motor can be used in three of our present vehicles,, therefore the committe recommend that Council authorize the work done A letter, together with First Aid regulations, from the Workmen's Compensation Board, was referred to the Cnmmittee The FirstAid regulations are the minimum standards required in the industry arid they recommended these should be given wide circulation among employees The committee recommended that a copy of these regulations be obtained for each employee of the Municipal District. Mr Pa uette brought up the matter of having the improved steering ap aratus installed on the Wagner Mr Paquette agreed to obtain p ices for this to be referred to Council. The Committee agreed that such a system would be desirable and that, if Council agreed, Mr Paquette and Mr. Sommerville organize same.
