It was notEd that it was difficult to collect from the owner of
the cattle and the M.D. may sue if it so desires, but they would
have to pr ve that the cattle owner knowingly had the cattle on
the road allowance.
Mr D bier then reported that the Travelall used to transport
the gravel truck drivers to and from work was broken down and that
he was now using his own vehicle to transport the men until the
repairs co ld be made to the Travelall
The f remen were then asked if each crew had a First Aid
Record Boo1I for recording injuries and they stated that they did
have such e book and it was being used
It waE then suggested that a small set of pressure gauges be
purchased to be used by the Municipal mechanic. This matter is to
be referre to Council for their consideration
A dis ussion regarding the extension of shops at Carbon and
Three Hill followed. Various ex'erpts and motions passed by Council
regarding his matter were then read to the Committee. It was noted
that the 1 st meeting of Council passed a motion that a building
permit be pplied for to extend the Municipal Metal shop at Three
Hills. This permit had not as yet been applied for. It was re-
ported that the area where our Municipal Shop is located in Three
Hills has teen slated for urban renewal. It was then noted that
action on this urban renewal could be at any time in the future. It
was the general feeling of the committee that the yard at Three Hills
was not. large enough and should possibly be relocated elsewhere.
Three possible sites were discussed
An ex ension of our culvert yard being on the west side of the
railway tricks, or
the p operty owned by Mr. W.J. Schmidt immediately south of our
present cu vert yard, or
the p operty owned by Mrs. Edwards on the south side of the
road acros from W. & T. owne Gravel and Cement works
A pho e call to the Town office was then placed asking the
acreages of the various sites. Mrs Edwards owns 25 8 acres and
Linden Contractors 12 2 acres in the NE- 36- 31 -24 -4 within the Town
limits. The Committee then made an inspection of each nf these
locations It was noted that the railway crossing at the south
end of Towt would cause the vehicles to cross three railway tracks
and vision at this crossing was not good It was stated that the
Town was to build a road from the north on the west side of the
tracks and this would eliminate the necessity of using this crossing.
to any great extent The committee then also looked at the other
two sites, the one across the road owned by Mr. W.J. Schmidt and the
one to the north owned by Mrs. B. Edwards Mr. Paquette stated
that shoull a new location for a Municipal yard be obtained, and
a new stor ge shop placed on it, the present metal building should
be moved o to the site also as otherwise fuel would have to be
located at the two locations as well as the other equipment nec-
essary to 3ervice the machines
The S cretary was then instructed to get prices for the
purchase o land at the various sites inspected, and that this
matter thei be referred back to Council at their meeting on Oct.
11th
It wa suggested that the Committee do now endeavor to have
regular me tings and at least a meeting every two months.
