FIELDMANIS REPORT TO COUNCIL
GORDON L PARK June 13, 1966
CATTLE SPRAYING• -
625 head were sprayed for lice and warbles during the
mont of April
MEETINGS ATTENDED - Meeting of Agricultural Fieldmen and D.A is
at S ettler April 18
Weed Inspectors, D A Is, and Fieldmen at
Coronation on May 30th.
TREE PLANTING: - About 120,000 trees were planted as follows.
17 miles of field planting; 152 miles of roadside
&lanting and about 42 miles of farmstead planting.
e mounted the tree planter on the three point hitch of
the tractor this year, This makes a very satisfactory
unit, since it is more readily backed into place in a
corner or in soft spots in the field. I also built a
new apparatus for spacing the trees in the row, which
toots a horn when it is time to plant.
Jim Kalbfleisch was hired to assist in the tree planting,
spraying, etc. but will be going to summer school on July 1st.
The now M.F 3165 tractor was delivered on May 26th and is being
used for roadside seeding. Front end weights have been in-
stalled to counter- balance the heavy mounted equipment,
especially the disk, which caused the tractor to lift off the
grounW on the front end when the disk was raised A Cater -
pill r tool box has been installed on the tractor.
All of the new equipment - Ford one ton, M F 3165 tractor,
Cultivator., Rotary mower and the Tilt deck trailer are very
satisfactory. I feel that the trailer has saved about one
week of time this spring
4 farmstead shelterbelts have been sprayed for spruce mites.
The grounds at Keiverfs Lake have now been seeded to grass.
A full dayts work with both tractors was spent in cultivating
and discking the area.
About.1S miles of roadside have been seeded
The njorth and auth ends of the A.S.B. garage were painted.
The g1rasshopper chemical which was stored at Allied Chemical
Servilces in Calgary has been picked up.
A Brush Control in Pasture Field Day has been set up by S.W
Pettem and myself to be held on the farm of K W Dole and son
of Allingham. This will be done in four plots; - one to be
rota mowed, one to be treated with Brushkill, one using
