A lengthy discussion followed in regard to Recreational
facilities provided in the towns and villages with costs
of operating same, the benefits derived from same by both
urban and rur 1 residents, and other related matters.
14r Gordon Long gave some fairly detailed information
in regard to ctlVlties at Three hills and advised that
net cost of recreation program in 1965 was $9021. and this
amounted to 4,6 mills on the 1965 town assessment He
estimated that the participants were approximately one
half town and one -half rural. Delegates from the Acme
area stated tlkat,, to have a recreation director would
necessitate a combined program with other areas to provide
for financing The Village of Acme has been granting 2
dills or appr ximately $840 per year for recreation but
considerable more money is needed now that they have their
swimming pool. The rural use is much greater than the urban.
I.epresen atives from Carbon gave much the same type
of statement End advised that it is very difficult for a
Village to ca try on with the facilities without rural help
The dele.ate from Linden estimated that the users there
would be abou 80% rural
