Councillors present throughout this meeting were air A H. Church Div 1 Hr Cliff P ole Div. 2 Mr. I', W Br wn Div. 3 (Reeve) Fir Dune Peters Div 4 v I.r Ralph L osmore Div 5 1dr 3 C Sc melke Div 6 :fir C C Ca pbell Div. 7 The Three Hills School Division was not represented at this meeting Cdr Adam Buyer and Hr. e-Im Church of the Carbon Village Council, met with our Council to discuss police services. Police They stated that the Village of Carbon wished to hire a Carbon policeman but dould not afford the full expense which would be appro ii:►ately $350 00 per month for wages plus car expenses of $75 to $100. per month They asked about assistan e for the project with the airs of having the policeman serve Carbon and perhaps half of the municipality and perhaps also Acme and Linden if those villages so desired They had no definite proposal as to division of costs, nor administration This was discussed at considerable length with reference also to R C M.P. services, to the fact that Trochu has a policeman and that it had once requested a similar arrangement Tyr Buyer and Mr. Church then retired from the meeting while municipal council further discussed it IRr. Loosmore moved that no agreement be entered into with any local Towns or Villages for police services at the present time Carried Mr A H Church moved that the Secretary- Treasurer R C TAI P inquire of the R C.M.P. regarding additional services ✓, and costs to police the Municipal District. Carried with vote of 6 to 1 Tir Peters asked that his vote be registered in opposition The delegation from Carbon then returned briefly to the meeting and were advised of the above motions and reasons for same. He is then free to move to Sharples to haul direct from the belt and to take some gravel into Div 5 or Div 1 as authorized by Council 2. Mr. Whe ler of the Torrington area had driven a truck for a few days but had resigned to take work at the Wimborne Gas Plant Mr Harvey K. Toews of Linden has been hired in his place 3. Mr. Dwayne Smith has taken one weekvs holidays starting today so he is presently short one driver 4 Mr Alan Kenny had failed to show up for work on one Saturday but has since been on the job. 5. Some has had broken on the loader this morning but repairs had be n obtained by making a trip to Calgary and it is now repa red 6. This was discussed at considerabl length and Municipal By -Law No. 459 was read again and fully discussed Repealing By -Law #459 was discussed as was also the possibility of allowing 56,0001 *9ad limits on only certain specified roads. Problems appeared in both cases The Secretary - Treasurer suggested that it might be possible to approve 56,000 lb. loads on certain stated roads and such other roads as might be trave led without crossing any government bridges Mr Peters mov d that a letter be written to the Bridge Branch for an pinion in regard to the suggestion of the Secretary -Tres urer Carried A circular Crom the District Engineer gave some new rental rates. Mr. Poole moved that they be advised that we now have a deal with Engineers and that this correspondence be tabled Carried. Council was advised that the Director of Lands of the Provincial Department of Lands has made a reservation in gravel -liver favor of this District for gravel rights in a portion of McVeighs the river along section 34- 29 -21 -4 (14cVey) Mr. Loosmore moved that this be accepted and filed. Carried A circular from Canadian Utilities regarding grounding connections and dangers of same were referred to briefly Ground TTires The meeting was advised that a copy has teen given to each Can. Schmel e reported that some washouts have occurred in the field qf Peel A1Lrecht possibly due to, in part, channel diver ions of the creek as made by a neighbor. Hr Poole mov d that, as this is a private job, no action be taken by this Municipal District Mr. Paquette advised that he had talked to Grant Arbuckle by phone and that the second new Magner will not be here until about June 20th. He further advised that a turbo- charger would cost about $2100 Mr Poole moved that no turbo - charger be authorized ordered for the Magner Carried, Fir. H.J.
