COMBINED TMETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE 14UNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL x#48 and THE AGRICULTURAL SERVICE BOARD March 261 1965 Page 24 int meeting of the Municipal council and the Agricultural Board was held in the Municipal office, Three Hills on March 26/65 commencing at 1.30 P.M. members of the Council were in attendance plus the farm of the Agricultural Service Board, Mr Jim Christie and lip Rock. present were the District Agriculturist, Mr. S.W. Pettem, ld Supervisor, 14r. G. L. Park, and Assistant Field Super - Mr Lorne Boese, with Mr. H.J Hanson, Secretary to the Mr Peters moved that the minutes of the joint meeting held on s Januar 21st, 1965 be adopted as per copy which had been mailed to each m imber Carried Dr. W T. Erisbane, Supervisor of Brucellosis Control, Provin ial Department of Agriculture-- and Dr.Clayton, Veterinarian ane with t e Federal Department of Agriculture(_, were in attendance at the me ting. Dr Brisbane outlined the policy in regard to brucellosis in FederaL control areas. He stated that as of June 1st, the llosis Munici al District of Kneehill will begin their voluntary vaccin- ation rogram He said that grants from that date will be 40¢ to the veterinarian and 10¢ to the Huni.cipal District for organiz- ationaL work. Dr. Brisbane stated that compulsory vaccination will s ill be in effect at all auction markets with the full cost of this vaccination being paid by the Provincial Department of Agricu ture at the rate of 75¢ per calf vaccinated The new age for va cinations will be calves 4 to 9 months of age Dr Brisbane then answered questions for various members of the Counci and Service hoard and was thanked for his attendance at the meets He then left the meeting. The budget of the Agricultural Service Board and the tentative prograin for the year 1965 -66 was discussed in detail by all present. 1.4r. Peters moved that the Municipal District share the costs of Gra s- chemic is for the control of grasshoppers on a 50 - 50 basis with hop er the f rmers, as has been the policy for the past years. Church moved that the Council authorize Mr Gordon L Park, upervisor to urchase a new cam=era as he sees fit. Carried idea of paying a grant to the farmer for the cultivation es planted under the Service Board program was discussed at ength. 111r. Petters stated that in Saskatchewan a grant is t the rate of 5¢ per rod of trees with a maximum of $16 00 le for the first year and two years thereafter. Mr. Park that the policy in the County of Lacombe was to pay a grant 00 per mile for the first year, $15 00 for the second year, 0.00 the third year, this being calculated on a per rod and paid when inspected and approved by the Field Super - and the District Agriculturist Rock moved that the Secretary write to ARDA to inquire if ould contribute toward a program of paying for the cultiv- of trees planted on the north and west side of road noes. Re gi Meei :t nts COMBINED MEETING MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF KNEEHILL No. 48 and AGRICULTURAL SERVICE BOARD, Mar 26/65 Page 25 Mr Foole moved that the budget as presented for the Agricultural Service Board be adopted and that the tentative program be submitted to the Provincial Department of Agriculture. Motion arried, Mr. oosmore moved that a grant be paid farmers for the cultiva ion of trees planted on the north and west side of road al owances at the following rates. $30 0 per mile for the first year, $20 00 per mile for the second ear, and $10 00 per mile for the third year; grant to be paid fo trees planted last year and the year before at the rate of $20 0 per mile and $10.00 per mile respectively. Carried ce Mr ing read a resolution presented to the Council by Mr Geo m- Boles a representative on the Surface Reclamation Committee. This was reai for the information of the Service Eoard members in attendaice . Mr rdon Park gave the following prices quoted for grass seed, this pr ce was for 1500 lbs of Creeping Red Fescue, 800 lbs. of Brome, t,000 lbs. Crested Wheat and 500 lbs, of Alfalfa- Crow Seed and Feed $1,866 50 Red eer Seed 2,079 50 McCa e Seeds 1,956.00 Albe to Wheat Pool 1,914 00 Can 4est Seed & Feed 2,000 00 Hanna Seeds 1,824.00 r MTr Poole moved that the quote of Crown Seed & Feed of $1866 50 be accelDted and that this amount of grass seed be ordered. Carried 14r Gordon Park then gave the following report of his work to date: 1. 1he new disc was purchased from a Three Hills Agency with the of one being traded in and the Seeder box was now mounted and ready for use. 2 1080 baits have been picked up with the exception of one north cf the Huxley Hiktterian Brethven. 3. 177 head of cattle have been sprayed for lice on 5 farms since he last meeting, and 6 farmers have requested spraying when weathen permits. 2,000 tree._are on order for planting during 1965, - 27,669 for farmsteads, 14,140 for roadsides or approx, about 4 miles, 38,490 for field planting. The balance of the trees were ordered through the District Agriculturirt4s office and we have no record of the , 5. About 60 people attended the Agricultural Chemical School at Thr e Hills 6 Pr Lorne Boese and Mr. Park attended a weed identification school at Sunbeam Hall east of Horrin . Mr.IPeters moved that Mr Park41eport be adopted.
