The Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs had been
previously contacted by telephone and had stated that, in his opinion,
Council could change the By - Law by passing a new By -Law, but, if
this was do e, a new vote would have to be advertised and held under
the provisi n of the Municipal lli.strict Act
The committee of Mr. Frank Hanson, J. Ilolendyk, TAI
Charleton, J. Klassen and G. Schafer then met with Jouncil. They
presented a petition from the area between Sunnyslope and Alli.ngham
and within the present Hail Suppression boundary. This petition
requested t at that area be taken from the Hail Suppression area for
1962 and th t no Mail Suppression tax be levied on it
The procedure that Council had followed was again
reviewed with them with particular reference to the notice that had
been placed in the 't'hree Hills Capital advising ratepayers that
Council was going to deal with this matter on a specific date
That datte h d passed.
Mr Hanson stated that well over two - thirds of the
voting rate ayers and over ninety percent of the resident ratepayers
had signed this petition and he felt that Council. should therefore
act on it
The effect of deleting this area from the Hail Supp-
ression pro ram was outlined If the total price to be paid the
Company rem ined the same, it would mean a 52j increase in the levy
on the Bala ce of the area. This would make the new rate approximately
12.2 mills
The matter was further discussed and the delegation then
thanked the Council for giving a good hearing.
