C Campbell 7 (Present in afternoon only) Mr. Peters moved that the minutes of the meeting of May 12th and May 26th be approved Carried The monthly statement for 11ay, 1958, was then present 3d and discussed This showed a net balance of ;`1,951.59, with $67,600. owing on loans, as per copy included with these minutes Hr. Schmelke moved that this statement be adopted. Carried. Mr. Peters moved that a donation of r$50 from H. 'd. Hanses for gravel work be accepted and that 75 cu. yd. of gravel be put on the road /11W -11 -30 -24-4 (J mile) . I Carried. Correspondence was read as per the agenda included with th se minutes r1r. Schmelke moved that Reeve Meston represent the Council at the hearing of appeals by the ;1ta. Assessment Appeal Board in the Municipal Office on June 18th & 19th. Carried Mr. Brown moved that the requisiton of 116,491. from the ''rumneller Health Unit be accepted and that the payments be made quarterly Carried. Hr. Brown moved that the plan of location of the new telephone line as submitted by Alta. Government Telephones for the Acme- Linden line be accepted,subject only to a change W /SW -24 30 -25 -4 with the approved location to be on the east side of the road diversion and on the original road allowance insofar as possible Carried A letter from the C. P. R. gave X18,000 as an estimated cost of a new overpass near Sharples. 10 action was taken on this, pending a reply to our inquiry to the Board of Transport Commissioners Mr. peters moved that the Council approve of the propose location of a Radio Tower in 5E- 36- 31 -24 -4 as request d by Canadian Utilities Ltd. Mr. Peters moved that the Council approve of the line extensions as requested by Canadian Utilities in the Sunnyslope R. E. A. L. area. Carried. Hr :Brown moved that L P. Meston and G King attend the Central Alta. Mr. Brown moved that responsibility for capital costs for Mare Klassen be now accepted as the new information from Calgary General Hospital shows her to be a dependent of David G Klassen. Carried. Mr C. E Ruby, Field Supervisor, met the Council and gave his report i referring to the following: Spraying of cattle and sheep, brome seed given out for seeding of gullies; PCB Spreader received for spreads g of dry weed chemicals; Septic `Tank forms are being made at Linden, trees have been sprayed for 3 farms and more art to be done. sir. Peters moved that this report be acce ted. Carried. (Also attended 4-H Achievement Days) Mr. Church moved that R. W. Brown and C. E Ruby attend the Agricultural Service Board Conference in Edmonton on June 12th & 13th. Carried. Pair Church moved that profiles, etc., be taken by our engineers for the proposed new location for the Overpass near Sharples. Carried. Boese stated that B & H might bp able to send their machine out for a day. Mr. Schmelke moved that Noah Boese be paid X57 50 for 3" k 4" lumber at his farm, being an app. price of :60. M. Carried. The committee for the purchase of a one -ton truck gave it report. After discussion, Mr. Boese moved that a one ton 6 cylinder G. I.. C. be bought from Acme Garage at a price of 42,122.16, without box, spare tire, anti - freeze, and sin al lights. Carried Mr Peters moved that the 1953 one --ton Ford be sold to Reg. Campbell, of Trochu, "as is" for :250 , with the Municipal District to keep the box and signal lights. Carried The engineer's profile for the coulee W /iV4�s- 18- 3J -22 -4 (Haller ) was discussed. Mr. Boese moved that the Bridge Branch e again requested to make an inspection and that they be asked to supply a 60" culvert. Carried. The engineer's profile, etc., of the hill at S-14-31­25-4 (McKay' s) was considered. In view of the amount of eartli work required to straighten the road, it was agreed that the work at the hill be left until fall A report from the surveyors showed that the fences on west side of road W -13 & 24- 32 -27 -4 were wrongly locatibd in the ioad allowance. Mr. Peters moved that the agreements signed by Wm. Erwin and Mrs. iticKay be accepted, namely. Wm Erwin $52 acre for 1 A. land from each of NE &_ SE- 22- 33 -26 -4. Edmon care COUNCIL MEETING June 5, 1958 Page 4 Mr Church reported on the Safety Conference in held May 5th, 6th7 & 7th/58 and stated that greater awareness of danger could help prevent malty accidents. Mr Peters moved that the Council approve of Certificates for Unemployment Insurance Exemption for H. J. nson and Robert Hogg. Carried A letter from the Dept of Highways was read which stated that a Contingency Grant of $22,000 has been granted for the Wimborne -- Torrington road, with the work to be under the supervision of the District Engineer. Mr Boese moved that all notices of hospital admissions for Capital Cost purposes as listed in the agenda be accepted, with one exception -- John Lemstro is not a resident Carried. Letters were read relating to recent fire inspections in the iamlets of -�imborne and Torrington, said letters being from the office of the Prov. Fire Commissioner. Mr Church reported that the Mutual Telephone Co. at Carbon planned to rebuild 4 miles of telephone line from NWW- 23- 29 -23 -4 east this year. This is on a District Highway. Meston moved that this District buy a one rod strip of land along the south side of the said road so that the telephone line can be set back one rod, and that a survey be made Carried. Mr Church moved that a survey be made in ivd -21- 29 -22 -4 for the road for G. McCracken. Carried. Mr Schmelke moved that Lots 22 and 23 Blk. 4 Torrington Plan 4127 EH be advertised for sale by tender, with tha buildings to be removed or demolished within 60 days of finaL approval of any sale; tenders to be in by July 12/58. Reeve � I Sec. -Treas l M IN 24 COUNCIL MEETI NG Page 8 June 23, 1958 The Council meeting that had adjourned from June was re onvened in the Municipal Office on June 23rd, 1958, with a 1 councillors again in attendance. 5th Business was dealt with as per the agenda enclosed. Mr. Brown moved that all notices of hospital admiss ons be accepted as per the agenda, with the exceptions of Mrs Ruth Toews and Mr. John Reboul The two named are not re idents nor taxpayers of this District Carried Mr. H. J. Gimbel, foreman, met the Council and discus ed his road program, etc. 11r. Brown moved that each regular road employee be pai $100.00 on July 3rd as a part payment of his labor accoun Carried. The Natural Resource Road grant of $24,000. on a 75/2 basis was discussed. Mr Church moved that the Council_ authorize the grading of the 2 miles of District Highway West 1 6: 12- 33 -25 -4 by our north crew, that our crew do 2 miles of road for the NaturaL Resource Grant; and that the balance of -the Natural Resour e Road project be done by contract. Carried Mr. Brown moved that the Bridge Branch be main requested to inspect the locations West 5 (� 8- 31 -25- �- and that it be suggested that they pay a grant toward the cost of the two bridges which are to be constructed. Carried Mr. Arnold Boese, of Linden Contractors, met the Counci and discussed the gravel program. They are now worki , in Div. 7 from the Calvert pit in RE- 3- 34 -22 -4. The Sec.- Treas. reported to Council that the Innisf it municipal Hospital District had not divided its requisition as to operational and capital costs and that the Municipal mill rate was set to allow for payment of one-quarter of the requisition. A new requisition had just been received showing capital costs mgr. Meston moved that the said Hospital District be paid on requisitions according to their original request only Carried Mr Brown m oved that this Municipal District agree to accept the water rights for the dam in 17vl -22 -31 -24-4 and that e P. F. R. A. be asked to proceed with survey, etc Carried. Mr. Heston moved that the P F R A be asked to J inspect the dam in SE -27 -31 -24-4 and to effect necessary repairs. Carried.
